Anyone interested in another challange??? If so input what you would like to see involved in it.

Weight loss
Weight gain
BF%
Total gains in lifts
Time limit

Stuff like that. I know Muttersnapper has opted out as far as running the next one but we can still call it the Mutt Challange eh?? Even though our favorite dino man crapped out of the last one his idea was a great one and we all benfitted from it.

If there is interest , I volunteer to .....well I haven't a clue cause we all have to agree on what we wish to be challanged in. I will try to compile and report as we progress. I usually have time unless my a$$hole boss makes me work or somthing.

Post your ideas here and we can start a new post once we have a consensus.

i'd definitely be all for getting in on a new challenge! as if competing against myself isn't enough to keep me motivated, going up against other ft members should really light a fire under me:big_smile:

maybe there could be different divisions to compete in because it's hard to lose weight when you're trying to get stronger. perhaps there could be a competition for each of the categories you listed over like a 2 month period.

i'm going to save the trash talking until i get an idea of who all is going to get in on this:big_smile:

LOL dino man (what have I started?) I vote to do it but someone other than charlie to be in charge he would forget what we all were doing! I am in.......though not sure how a bucket lift/squat compares to a deadlift?

Don't make me start writing poetry about you Muttersnapper. And my memory is fine as long as I have this large print computer to remind me.

In order to give the most people to discover this post as well as input their preferences for the challange, is June the first a good starting day??

Do we want to do teams as well as head to head??

So far it appears there is interest in BF%, weight loss, % of lift increase, positive measurement changes and possibly "best workout attire

If we do measurements and weight, we have to figure out how to track it. Like if you lose 4 inches from your waist and gain 1 inch on your arms and chest what happens.

Which bench mark do we want to use for BF%?? Not everybody has calipers. At mybodycomp.com there is a thing that you can input all your measurements and it gives up a BF% which aint perfect but it is available to all. It can also be cut and pasted for stat keeping.

We will need more Texans or goodoldtex will have to be his own workout partner.

Oh yeah, do we need a special section for girly lifts or should we play it straight???

june 1 is good i think, that's almost 4 weeks to get everything figured out.

as far as measurements go, we should get points for losing inches off "trouble areas" and gaining inches in arms, chest, etc. i think everyone using the same calculator would be a good idea, that way we're all on the same scale for at least 1 thing.

i'm a texan but by june 1 i'll be in houston and tex is in plano...that's 260 miles away so i don't know how great of a workout partner i'd be.

and if we have a special girly section, we should have a category for the over-50 crowd with bad knees just to even things out. :laugh::laugh:

I would be up for it. I need some challenge. My schedule right now is killing me (work, gym, play rehearsal, no sleep, work, gym, play rehearsal...you get the idea). I know things will have to be figured out between now and the start date. Looking forward to it.

OK Charlie. You got my attention. Girly lifts indeed!:angry::surprised::big_smile: LOL So I guess that means you will be competing in our category? :laugh::laugh:

I am definitly in! I like the idea where we could group people according to their goals. Men and women could then compete against each other, and that would possibly leave more people in each group. I found that in the last few Mutt Challenges, my solitary competitor never stuck it out long enough. :( I'd not mind competing against Amy, Howdie or Muttersnapper at all - they'd keep me on my toes!! I'm interested in competing in the overall strength increase - so save a place for me :big_smile:

I am getting excited the more I think about this, have been slacking since my vacation and a challenge is just what I need! I also concur with June 1 as a good start date.

I am in for increased lift percentage, reduced bodyfat percentage and improved measurements. :dumbbell::love::dumbbell:

If we are going by percent improvement, do the boys and the girlies need to be separate?

How long will this challenge be? 1 month or 2?

How about......if we do 3 lifts........either bench press, squat and deadlift.......or 4...and add military press in it..........then to make it far what you do is take the MAX and divid it by your body weight to get a percentage.....do this for all 3 or 4 lifts.....and add them together.........example

A 225lbs

bench 240/225=1.06
military 190/225=.84
squat 300/225=1.33
deadlift 350/225= 1.55
total 4.78

B 110lbs

bench 115/110=1.04
military 60/110=.54
squat 200/110=1.81
deadlift 220/110=2.00
total 5.38

as you can see the B won, even though B smaller and not lifting as much weight.........if we prefere we could multiply by 100 for a higher eaiser to log score. Also this if fun too cause you can get maxes, but before you max you can try to lose a lil weight while maintaining your strength. Just a thought! :dumbbell:

I would be willing to compete for a gain with someone. I am at about 5% bodyfat right now for a contest in 2 weeks, so as of May 23rd, you could count me in on that. Increase lean mass with least amount of bodyfat accumulation. June 1 st would be ideal for me, that would give me a week off after the competition, a little fun time, and be ready to go to work.:big_smile:

question from one new to these challenges.. does it have to be your max, or what you can do 8-12 reps of?

Reason I ask is I may have to bow out of maxes due to a nagging rotator cuff issue..
I've been advised against trying to find my max until it's functioning at 100% :(

BTW, I love the stickies! Things are getting better and better around here all the time.. and they were good to start with! :big_smile::big_smile:

I'm up for bodyfat loss and inches lost. Why not keep it simple like inches lost off waist as this is the most important area to lose fat from? (and it leaves us girls with a competitive advantage!)
Also put my name down for increased lift percentage - squat or deadlift would be good- cos I can't always get a spotter and I could use the smith machine for squats :)

I am interested, once the circus is over, so June 1st would be a good start date.

I would like to increase my bench and squat/deadlifts...also fat loss and muscle gain, inches, etc.

I kind of dropped on other competitions, somehow this has to be the one I stick with....

I suggested the above scoring because you can loose weight as well as work out your maxes......cause if you lose say 5 lbs your ratio is higher........but its what ever....
