I thought I might try to keep a little journal of my training and progress here for any that might want to read it. A little into: My goals are to of course loose bf and build some more mass. I want to have 22 inche biceps for one thing. Another goal is to one day do the following, bench 300 (right now working towards 250 6-8 reps by end of march). Squat 500 working towards 300 right now, and deadlift 600 got 285 6 good reps last week. I am starting cardio this week which gives me 9 months to make my waist size goal of 42 LOL about 10 inches I think. So there you have it. Tues morn I will post a workout for shoulders and legs....---------------------------- IF YOU CAN STILL ITCH YOUR NOSE AFTER ARM DAY, GO DO ANOTHER SET!!! |

Ok here we go felt strong This morning was shoulders and legs, both went wellHIGHLIGHTS: Sh press 155 6 reps on last set, shrugs 425 8 reps held at the top for 3 sec. Forgot to talk about this..this weekend I was trying on dress pants for work from my closet. You know those ones that used to fit but no longer do...well not only do they fit, but one pair that I have not worn sice 99(they are a 46 waist) I can finally get close and zipped...now mind you they are tight and I have to loose a few more inches to get them to fit right. Ok Chest and Tris and Bis were done this morning. Had a great workout overall, but I am concerned. I have not gotten tomy goal of 250 on bench 6-8 reps. I can just get 225 6 times. In fact this morning I got caught under the bar and had to roll it off my body cause there was no one around. Other than that the tri and bi and rest of chest went well. Really hit tris good 110 skullcrushers 6 times as last set. 40lb kickbacks. 100 7 times great form for barbell curls and tons of concentration curls supersetted with the barbell curls. Back Day and whoa what a day...not only did I keep great form on all lifts I managed to increase the reps. Bent rows I got 205 8 times great form....deadlifts managed to hit 275 8 times,,,,wish not I had fought thru that pain to get the last 2 reps caise on the next set at 285 I got 10 reps....both shins and knees are scraped to hell also got 3 sets (assisted) chins...so all in all great lifts and great feeling.-------------- IF YOU CAN STILL ITCH YOUR NOSE AFTER ARM DAY, GO DO ANOTHER SET!!! |

Here is the deal: I am now offically pissed off enough to really make a go at this. By that I mean in 6 months I hope to have lost 60lbs (hopefully mostly fat). I am done with kicking ass in the gym and not really looking like it unless I flex. I am not going to take or make any excuses. I have cut the cals down a little till I know what my comfort levels will be with my lifting combined with the 3 days of cardio I plan on doing for now. I might get up to running a mile every day like I used to in college. I am eating only good protein and hopefully as the season goes only fresh veges/fruits and maybe some brown rice. Oatmeal, cottage chese, eggs, steak, tuna, chicken, turkey etc. My cardio is going to be walking for about a month each time faster, till I can run again, got to work it in slowly as I do not recover as fast from that as I used to. My goal is to run my old route which is about 2 miles (around my house) in 20 min or less. Just got back from the gym. I did it!!!!!!! I got my goal of benching 250 6 times on my last set. It was so cool to reach that goal....now on to 275!!! Rest of chest and arms went very well my bis are so pumped I can barely type! More later!! |

Went and did shoulders and legs last night. I did the following:Dumbbell sh presses 60x10, 65x5 st barbell sh presses 95x10 115x8 125x8 135x7 Note: A little different here but man the shoulders were pumped, next week I go back to increaseing the barbell press. Side and back laterals 30x10(s) 30x10(b) 35x10(S)35x10(b) 30x10(S) 30x10(B) wide gripped upright rows(went light as I have never done wide grippedbefore) barbell 45x10 65x10 85x10 Shrugs: 225x10 315x10 405x10 425x10 445x8(new record) Legs: Squats 135(warmup) 185x10 225x10 235x10 (next week I start at 225 and go higher in weight)also supersetted seated calf raises with squats 3 sets all for 12 reps, 50lb 100lb 110lb leg ext 110x12 120x10 140x9 ham curl 110x10 120x10 After the workout I almost passed out as this all was done in about an hour. It felt so good I have never gone as heavy for shrugs and for leg ext, and ham curls. Not to mention that the squats were done with as good form as I could give. I am very sore today!!!! Great job, Mutt. I'm thinking about starting my own journal thread, you motivator, you!By the way Dr. Mutt, it's confession time. I notice that I have been a bit lazy with my cardio lately... All this lifting is really motivational and a great stress relief, but... 60 minutes of cardio has dwindled down to 45 and down to 30. Three times a week cardio is now twice - sometimes once if I "have the time"... C'mon Mutt I need you to push me! Show me that I can lift like da Mutt (well, sort of) AND get my cardio in, too. Post those cardio workouts! Gimme some motivation! I have a vacation in Florida in July, Mutt... and that Speedo is still too tight! TSMD |

Also, guys, just remember, cardio is NOT limited to the treadmill at the gym! Now that Spring is here, things like in-line skating, basketball, or anything you enjoy doing, will work. Oh i think Ihate it more!!!!!! It would be different if I had someone to do it with then I can compete hehehehehe...my next accomplishment will be back day and surviving that. HAHAHAHAHAAHA This is the week where 2 things happen, 1st is I use a assisted chin machine, well the gloves are off it is a all out battle to use less help, so I plan to lower the help till I can just get 6 reps for 3 sets and build up to 10 reps. 2nd is the deadlift....I am taking that to the next level....sanely of course. I got 285 10 reps last week. This time i will add weight till I can get 6-8 only maybe ever lower till I fail. Sunday was back day!! This is by far my favorite day. OK started with chins, no as I have stated that I use an assisted chin machine. I usually use the whole stack. But today I only used the whols stck for the first set. Then I went up by 2 levels, then up on more. I got 10 reps, 10 reps and 8 reps on the last set. I used to use 112lbs of help my last set only gave me 40 and I could have gone lighter. Next week I will. Then it was bent rows......185x10, 195x 10 205x 8. Deadlifts.....205 warmup x 10...285x 8....315x 6 335x1(I was going for 6-8 but my back was fired). next week I will go up a little more. Then I went to lat pulldowns. I stated with 150 for 10, 160x 10, 170x10 180x 8. Ok here makes a change in my journal....A number of things has made me change to a more cardio style workout. One is that I need to do it. Two my membership ran out and right now we have no money to sign up again. Three, I have been lifting heavy for 4 months and I have the signs that I need to take a break. I have a injury on my right hand that hurts a lot but will heal if I give it time. Finally I have very limited weights in my basement, 1 ez curl bar/60 lbs of weights, 2 30lb dumbbells and 2 20 lb adjustable dumbbells....so my choices are very limited. My plan is to to Tae-bo 3-4 times a week do yard work on the weekends, do what ever curls bent rows tri should etc I can with what I have and pushups. Hopefully this is a very short term issue as I want to keep the gains in strength and muscle growth I have. Thanks I needed it, I am ok with a break but really need the weights at the gym. Ok last night I got back into lifting at my home. I now have 136 lbs of weights to use. I did bi and tri. I did 2 sets of 50lb db curls, followed by 2 sets of 40lb and 1 set of 30lb all for 10 reps. Just wanted to say that i was in our bathroom brushing my teeth the other night and after done with that flexed in the mirror. to my surprise I had many veins come popping out at me. Now I have like 2-3 main ones close to the surface but nothing like now!
