I hope this does not mess you up but I do not think I can compete in the deadlift and squat category. I only have 100lbs in weights which I can do, so I cannot get a starting point. I am in for weight loss and bf %. Santa is to bring my more weights so I can increase at a later point. I will still get you on those categories

DOH!!! Shoot, I've been foiled! hahahaha Really though I_Am-azon, if you saw my stats you wouldn't be worried. Are you just doing the BF comp or are you gonna do weight loss too? Or are you tryin to gain muscle? Sheeesh, now I have worked myself into being scared. REALLY!! If all we're competing against is the BF catagory I am going to need some advice before we get started. I don't really know how to lose BF. SEE????? Told ya I wasn't going to be any competition for you. My BF came down when I had my personal trainer but I don't know what the cause was. Was it my diet? Was it cardio? Or was it weights? I did gain a little bit of muscle my first few weeks, which raised my weight, which frustrated me, so my trainer concentrated more on cardio. I am to the point that I realize I may have to gain a few pounds of muscle (because I still have a very high % of BF)in order to burn calories faster but will building muscle help burn BF?

And here you were worried I_Am-azon LOL ........

Cool man...which category are we competing in? I don't know if losing weight and body fat% is a good idea for me right now because I'm trying to gain some muscle in the offseason before I begin to diet down for my next competition. Oh well, I guess this is motivation to change up my routine. Count me in!! How does this work? Are we on the honor code or do you want before and after pics, first born? What do you want from me dammit?!

OooooH...BB1FIT, I just read your request to do the body fat thing. I don't think I can do that at this time if I'm paired against you. I really need to concentrate on blasting out my chicken legs, and dropping body fat (now at about 12%) may keep me from doing that. Give me some thoughts because dieting down and bulking up are two different entities. Thanks

You have a very valid point. If I were gaining, I would not be able to go against someone dropping bodyfat. 2 totally different categories. I am doing this because I am getting ready for my next competition in March, and this is perfect timing as it will be something I will be doing anyway. So, Mutt, you will have to find me a different competitor I guess. Too bad Jdelts, it would have been cool comparing notes as we both prepare for contests. Oh, well....

I know...this would have been perfect for me 4 months from now. It would have totally benefitted me if I was able to compete against BB1FIT in the weight loss, because I would have had to work harder to compete w/him. Hey Mutt when's the next challenge, or can you find someone I can compete against in the strength category?

I'm a rumbling, sometimes stumbling and always grumbling. Where are my teamates. Carivan? Mike? Lets hear from you. BTW Mutt don't let an old guy catch you on squats.

BB1 I was telling Muttersnapper that his memory would improve with age on that post you asked me about.

Here I am charlie; starting to get cold on my porch...

You said something about catching the mutt in squats..Hmmmm, we are close to using the same weight on the ole squats; lets try to catch the man...I think my Dick Butkus Jr. knees are up for the challenge.

Good luck everybody!

OH yeah it is on!!!!! I will take the triple threat match..in once corner two old men trying to relive their youth. In the other a contender that could infact give Mutt a run for his money. Then their is Mutt weightlifter extraordinare. Who will win? Given that mutt is driven and has not yet begun to tap his natural strength....We place our bets on MUTT!!!

Welcome back Mike. This squat thing has me inspired. I am one of those who only concentrated on upper body in my younger years. I did very extensive bicycling but that was it. The squats, deads, and core exercises are things I just never did. I am making small gains in the upperbody stuff but frankly these core exercises are surprising me.

I am making fairly good gains in the amount of weight I'm pulling but I'm experiencing other positives too. My stomach seems to be flattening out and I don't think its the ab work alone.

Ivan, you are the most knowlegable in our crew I think. Send us tips. Except for poor old Ron we are also the eldest. Lets smoke these puppies. Muttersnapper must learn respect for the boomer generation.

Ahh yes! mutt, the beast from the East has rose up with a vengent growl.

Legs...In High School, I was always trying to build them damn things up from injuries from football and basketball. 5 knee surgeries by my senior year, but I do remember the days of heavy squats, and leg sleds. I cry like a newborn baby when I try these, but the baby will wipe away his tears, and raise his sword to challenge the beast from the east known as the one and only mutt...I will say; if the squats go up-surely the deadlifts will follow. The beast from the east dominates me on the deads, but my form is good, and the strength is coming around..The battle will last 12 weeks; will I bow to the beast, or be knighted by the king.

Let the games begin.....

With a mighty vengeful growl the Mutt Shakes his fur to rid himself of any and all distractions. The bar is loaded and settled soon upon the back. It is lifted, and Mutt once again marvels as to the ease of it. He squats and stands, squats and stands, over and over this goes. He makes it hard indeed for the grumpy old men to follow.....

Ok guys ask BB1 and TSMD what happend when Mutt gets challenged. BB1 did so on curls and Mutt edged him out. TSMD did so on Shrugs and was soundly defeated! Think you can defeat me with witty snappy remarks? HA! I sneeze in your general directions!

Mike , by all means dip into that rusty wallet and buy a membership . we need more mortal posters there. It is hard to post my numbers against the likes of Ron and the East Wind. They must remember though that it is % of gains and loses that will be measured per Hurricane Muttersnappers first post here.Adapt and overcome my deep fried brother.

I am here and ready to go. When does this start? Just kidding!!!! I have not been on FT alot in the last couple of days due to it being so slow. I was about to work my arms to failure by throwing my computer out the window. As for your competition, it appears that I am taking on THE MAN. Well, I have my rock in my sling and I will see if I can slay the giant. My only chance is that I do have alot more bf% to lose than yourself. I hit my chest and back on monday, put in my HIIT yesterday and will do another round of HIIT today and have watched my calories close ( it has only been 2 days but I am looking at the positives ). How about a LAST MAN STANDING MATCH. Although I would lose sunday because saturday is my leg day. And since we are on the theme .....AND THATS THE BOTTOM LINE BECAUSE ATIGER SAID SO!!!!!!

I'll drive the ambulance, sell the popcorn and fan the flames.

Girly men??? Are you gonna take that Ron. I nearly pulled a TSMD and spit out my dentures laughing. And that old "lost the post" thing ....Right!

My boy Mike is puttin up the pounds on the squats and Ivan is making the competition look terrible!! Chicken and tuna and beans...Blech and ptooie. But I will stick with it.

Whats a last man standing match? I am new to all of this so I have to ask.

Well, Charlie, you are making me show my pro wrestling knowledge. Of all the knowledge to have and I have this. I am ashamed but cannot help it. A last man standing match is simply where only one man can stand up to win. On sundays ( the day after leg day ) I walk around like an old man . I am sure you know how that is. LOL

LOL at Charlie! And just for the record, gang, I still have all my own teeth thank you very much.

For me, soreness doesn't come until 2 days after leg day. Immediately after my leg workouts, through, I get nasty tremors in my legs (Wile E. Coyote after eating earthquatke pills). I think you get the picture.

And no age-related Parkinson's jokes, Mutt.
