They had his training regime one time on the Discovery Channel when he was still sponsored by USPS. It's pretty rigorous they have machines that he rides on and they do in depth analysis of a lot of reactions in his body etc. etc. then there's always his up hill ride that lasts for hours...

Saw a show on him this weekend. Apparently his heart is 1 in a billion. It's larger then the average heart, even when he was born it like like 10% larger then normal, but now after years of training it's grown even more, thus making it incredibly efficient. They said if he never worked out a day in his life he would still be in better shape then most other athletes.

His VO2 max is about 10 percent higher than other riders analyzed, and I've also heard that he recovers faster than any of the other riders out there. This is what makes him so fast in the time trials.

just to ask do u think armstrong focuses mainly on his cycling for training and does very little in a weight training regime. most of the guys on the tour are skinny although some like ulrich and vinikorov look quite well built.

I think it is the drugs he denies taking that helps him. No question he is a great athlete, but I really think he has been taking stuff to help...just my 2 cents.-------------- Less Talk, More Chalk! 7707mutt@freetrainers.com |

i used to race bikes and even at the semi pro level there are tons of tricks riders use to hide drug use. When i was at national team camp we used to hear all the stories from our coaches who had been to all the major international events. that being said, it comes down to more than just who can hide the most drugs in their system...Lance kicks ass.

yeh heard about all the drug stories as well. just a shame that the press and sceptics continue to label him a a drug user even tho he has been never found guilty.
During the tour de france riders were "randomly" drug tested although wat were the chances that a rider with the number 1 (lance armstrong) was selected at random out of 200 odd riders. i guess pple who r successful in any high profile sport will always b accused, take carl lewis 4 instance. |

I'll have to say congrads to armstrong as well. I just find his last name rather ironic for someone that uses their legs soo much. :)

good one gangsta...
The drug rumors are a load of crap....his superhuman genetics make him unbeatable....wish he'd compete another few years...he's only 34?...however my friends speculate as all great athletes, he'll have to do a 'comeback' at some point.....hopefully it's while he's still young enough to win... | |

Lance is THE MOST tested athlete in the world. They arive at his house at 4:00 in the morning and demand that he pee in a cup on a regular basis all the time, and he is yet to come up with a single positive reading for anything.
"what were the chances armstrong was tested?" armstrong was tested, at almost every stage in the race. Not because it was random testing, but because he is always getting tested. "This is my body. And I can do whatever I want to it. I can push it. Study it. Tweak it. Listen to it. Everybody wants to know what I'm on. What am I on? I'm on my bike busting my ass six hours a day. What are you on?" Lance Armstrong -------------- The best feeling in the world is the feeling you get after a tough set of squats after you step back from the power rack and throw up all over the floor. |
