Jnellie:I went thru back surgery to remove 2 herniated discs in my low back. It is not "too bad" a surgery, but will require you to lay low for about 6 weeks after surgery and then they will send you to the rehab place to start SLOWLY building strength back again. Do not be tempted to overdo it too early. If your low back heals proper, there is no reason why you can not lead a fairly normal active life. You will be restricted to no more overhead lifting and no presure on the low back areas but other than that, the upper back, shoulders, arms and legs can all be worked. Abs can be worked and light weights can be generally tolerated to do low back work. Check with your rehab place about any questions you have about the work out. If you do not feel they are doing enough for you, then find a new rehab place. This is your life, health and future we are talking about. I know, been there and done that.
