I will do the FT full body today. My scale is a gold plated liar. It lies like a politician/used car salesman so I only subject myself to it once a month. I'll post my weight on the 16th of February.

I really hate ab work but I know I really need it - I may up the count on the crunches next week
My legs were sore - I think these routies or neither harder than I remember or I'm in alot worse shape than I thought I was in
now my arms hurt - the dips are really dreadful but I know they work wonders

On top of my walking, I did most of the workout for today. There are a few exercises on it that just hurt my knee too much. There are exercises that I do that are not on the sheet but I have yet to figure out how to adjust the sheets on here or even how to track the weight loss. Today was triceps, abs, back, and inner thigh mainly. Wish there was a magic move that could just take the spare tire away :)

Two weeks ago, I had some shoulder pain that I suspected was due to rotator cuff. Orthopoedist gave me some antiinflamatories for the shoulder and they seemed to help. Last week I started having serious back pain which I was afraid might be my kidneys due to meds. Got tested and kidneys are fine. Internist told me to double up on the antiinflamatory and gave me narcotics for my back. Oddly enough the antiinflamatory has helped my shoulder but my back is still tender.

I'm going to work through it. I start back on my full body routine tonight. Screw the pain. It will go away. I'll walk tomorrow and hit the garden. I can't  veg forever. I'm satisfied that my pains aren't serious damage so the plan is a week or two of full body at half weight and higher reps. I may have tweaked my back in the canoe so I'll give that another week.

I'll bump the weight in acouple of weeks. I have to get the garden prepped. We do what we have to do.

Yee gods, I'm the only one checking in here. I feel like I'm talking to myself, which is actually better than playing with myself, which would be embarrassing.

Speaking of embarrassing... I workout in my great room. We have scores of the TV shows like Glee, The Sing Off, American Idol, X Factor, The Voice and a few others on DVR or DVD that I work out to. I'm pushing 60 and I have to confess I just love Lady Gaga and Christina Agulera. We watch Burlesque, Eddie and The Cruisers and tons of other musicals. It's da bom for working out. I learned that hip talk from Glee. I' am a phat fit hip geezer so wrap your minds around dat, young cats.

I been running a fever at night so I haven't been working out - hopefully I can get over this crud that is going around, around here.
I'm going to try to do a light workout in a few minutes

On the boat today but winds are in the 30s with gusts to 50. Even I wont take a canoe out in this crap. We do swim in wind but it can get dangerous trying to cross big water in white caps in a canoe. We walked 5 miles in 65 minutes outside. I usually walk on a treadmill so this was a treat.

Charlie,
My darling dearest and I love to go canoing. I can think of nothing more relaxing. We try to get away from life and kids and all that every couple of months. We load the boat with tent, food, and the dog and diasappear for the weekend. I never really though about canoing as an exercise though. Now that I think about it though, it is one heck of a core workout, especially to some of the areas that we go where the water runs a little fast. Can't wait for the summer time, when the kids are out of school and our second boat is finally here and finished. We have two boys so we decided to get a second boat. It is going to be my husband and one kid in his boat and me and the other kid and the dog in the other boat. OH warm weather, please hurry. :)

What kind of physical condition does a person need to be in to survive boot camps? I am beginning to notice several boot camps being offered in my area as the weather is trying to warm up and  I am really intrigued by the concept, however, I am also very imtimidated. Can someone who is in a beginner stage survive without injury or having to quit half way through? I do not have a huge budget and do not want to spend that kind of money if I am only destined to fail.

While I don't think they are straight out of "Survivor" they probably can be challenging at different levels. Best bet is to contact them and find out what they offer - I am certain they will have a plan for new members / beginners. It sound like a real commitment with real results.

I am off to train legs today.. pain is coming.

---OH my but I love it when girls talk sweet to me. About canoeing for exercise. We use kayak paddles and really dig for an hour and a half to two hours.  It is good core exercise as well as cardiac. We'll go out all winter long when we're staying on the big boat except days with winds over 20 mph. I'm not frightened of the wind but winter winds prevail out of the west and northwest and getting home sometimes is more of a challenge than we want. When the weather warms up, which will be early this year, we take the canoe home and swap it for an inflatable kayak. We swim 4 to 6 miles 3 days a week for about 7 months a year. We tether ourselves to the bright yellow kayak so the drunks can see us, We cant board the canoe from the water and with the rubber kayak we can slither over the side. When canoeing  I take the rear seat to steer and my wife takes the front. I always enjoy the view.

I am trying a new workout that includes that big exercise ball. Today was my first day really working with it and I have to admit, the dang thing makes me feel extremely uncoordinated. I fell off the thing a few times but I think once I get the hang of it, it will be a fun way to break up what is considered a normal workout routine. I was told to just sit on the ball to get used to it, so I am going to use it as my chair tonight while I watch one of my favorite shows.

Yesterday was a cardio day for me...Having some trouble with my hip, so running is pretty painful right now. Decided to do the P90X Kenpo Karate videos (one of my favorites). Had to modify a few things (jumping jacks are definitely out), but I made it through and felt great afterward!

Is chocolate milk an acceptable recovery drink? I can't remember where I read that, but aside from water, I'm never sure what to eat/drink after a workout.

Thanks!

Yes, I did! Back into the groove, fell out of routine for a month. Forced myself out of bed at 6:45am. An hour later, I remembered how good my body feels when I challenge it. More energy this morning, a skip in my step on my walk to work. Just joined FreeTrainers. Accountability. That's what I see so far. Knowing that, when I'm finished a work-out, I can go and log my progress is a great motivator. Can only go up from here!

Yesterday was all about arms; biceps, triceps, shoulders...I was so tired when we finally got home around 8pm, I just wanted to sit and watch tv. Managed to convince myself to just get started and managed to complete the workout. Today is another cardio day, so I think I will do some Just Dance with my son. Gotta love the Xbox Kinect! What a great workout tool!

Hope everyone's having a good week!

Second day of heavy split routine. George I had never seen the ab ball single leg squats and calf raises. They are great additions especially for those with limited weight. The ab ball squat , for all practical purposes, turns a hundred pound squat into a two hundred pound squat. I am sure that both I and my legs will hate you for a day or so. I'm walking funny.

Hit the abs and low back with higher reps and medium weights.
2012/02/29, 06:06 PM
Arms, shoulders, back and abs split. I've stepped up the intensity.

My wife and I think we want to Zumba. We have Playstation 3. Can we do it on that?

joined a gym with my neighbor yesterday. I am really excited to now have what I feel I need as far as my exercise routine goes. No more rain outs and I have a buddy. Our move yesterday has even inspired our husbands, they want to go too. Us girls want them to go but maybe they can go with each other so us girls can go without feeling embarassed.

---Potty training is so frustrating and every child seems to respind to it in different ways. I have two little boys and I found that, with my boys, there were two little tricks. :) To introduce them to the potty, I bought Elmo's potty time video and put the potty chair in front of the tv and let them watch Elmo. I would have them sit on the potty, bare bottomed and watch the show everyday. I know it sounds gross but it seemed to take some of the fear out if it. After a little time with Elmos, I would throw Cheerious or fruit loops in the toilet and tell them to try to hit the cereal. I know it sounds gross, but it seemed to have worked, we turned it into a game. I know sometimes it seems that they will never go potty but it does get better. Good luck and if you need someone to talk to or vent with, send me a message on my wall, us mom's have to stick together. :)

No exercise today. We're riding out storms on the boat. Have a Star Trek-athon planned. Tornado watches are all around us. Figure the boat is the safest place. She weighs 30,000 lbs and wind can't get under her. There are no trees near us. We're a quarter mile out on the end of a marina dock. I have the boat double tied. If we pull a Dorothy, the dock is coming with us. I'll just bring it back when the storm passes ;~).
2012/03/04, 03:06 PM
6 mile walk. Winds were really howling last night and today.
