I was wnadering if you guys have any favorite books about bodybuilding, etc that you want to recommend

I was looking at david613m`s post about the book from Ian King and that looks like a good source, but I wanna see it before I buy it.

The only book that I have and love is Arnold`s bible

Modern Trends in Strength Training, or Winning the Arms Race, both by Charles Poliquin. Great stuff. If you can find it, vrey tough to find, but the Poliquin Principles is great reading.

Men's Health offers a deal right now where you can order the book for a 30 day trial period. They give you postage to return it if you don't like it. However, you can get it cheaper on amazon.com (24.99 versus 39.99).

Some real basic info and lots of typos, but one of the ones i used when i got ready for my first competition was "Championship Bodybuilding" by Chris Aceto

I have a new book to add to this list:

The New Rules of Lifting; six basic moves for maximum muscle
by Lou Schuler and Alwyn Cosgrove

It is nice to see a 'mainstream' book that touts a return to basic, heavy compound lifts as a foundation and gives an understandable explaination of periodization. Alwayn Cosgrove gives good, progressive programs for all goals and the book is an easy read.

I recommend it!

Just got it amy. Alwyn is one of my favorite coaches, I have met him personally, and I believe he is quickly becoming one of the best strength coaches out there. I like his principles.
Haven't started it yet though, I'm in the middle of Science and Practice of Strength Training By Vladmir Zatsiorsky. Check out my post "what are you reading" in the powerlifting forum for any strength training book recommendations.

I'm reading "the unnatural athlete" by Charles Staley. I'm not exactly a Staley fan (more work in less time, we get it already...), but am pleased with CERTAIN portions of this book. Particularly, different portions of the book were written by different authors, and there is some good stuff on motivational techniques. However, some of it is, beating a dead horse.
Good for athletes looking to move up a level, it reads a lot like a Q&A. If that is what you are looking for, then this is it... However there are things that could be changed.

I'll comment more as I finish it.

I also like "New Rules of Lifting," The science is excellent and I really appreciate that he cites the various studies from which he pulls his facts. The workouts are straight forward, easy to follow, and they work very well. Admittedly, I have yet to modify my dietary habits (which aren't great) so I never got really cut, but I got a LOT stronger, gained muscle mass, and got enough definition (and self confidence) to be satisfied.

As a mother to a 17 month old, I really appreciate getting the most out of my workout time (of which I have little).
