Gluteus medius

Basics of Gluteus medius

One of the three gluteus muscles, the medius region is located at the pelvis and is partly covered by the maximus muscle. Basically it is located at the upper part of your buttocks. It functions to abduct as well as rotate the thigh.

This region of the buttocks is slightly harder to isolate during exercise but it will overlap with general glute exercise. Specifics such as hamstring kick backs have proven to be quite effective.
