Bless your heart Boo...hope you feel better.
I did good all weekend with the exception of having a small sliver of my father's birthday cake. Hopefully, it didn't mess me up that bad since it was made with his heart condition in mind. (ie, healthy in the terms of "cake") I'm praying to the Gods of sticktuitiveness for this week since it is the final countdown to Hector leaving for Iraq next Monday...I tend to take on a "screw it" attitude when under severe stress. It's bad enough to feel like your life is falling apart, even worse to have to focus on your meal plan. But, I am spending the day getting everything made up for the week and composing a thing to post on my fridge so that it's in my face all the time. Wish me luck! -------------- A morning without coffee is like something without something else. |

Awe dfly....my heart goes out to you...there is nothing like prepareing for a spouse to deploy...and to have him deploy to iraq...I cant even imagine.Try your best to use this as a time to focus on really getting this thing done..instead of focusing on being the family rock.Behind a good soldier is their rock...their spouse.
My husband was Navy...hes out now...but he was a hospital corpsman...so we were always stationed with the marines...and the marines wives were always awe inspiring...I was strong...but the marines wives...amazing.I had a very dear friend who kept this poem...it has always meant alot to me..you probably know it...but in case you dont... "I Am A Marine Wife" I am a marine wife, I share my husband's pride in the Marine Corps. My husband has conquered the most challenging military training program that the United States has to offer. The Eagle, Globe and Anchor give testimony to his title "Leader of Men, United States Marine" He has taken his place among history's Marines who have made the world feel safer just hearing the words, "the Marines have landed, and the situation is well in hand" I am proud that in an age that scorns fighting men, he chooses to defend his country. Although I can never fully understand his devotion to his fighting fraternity, I realize that these closed corners of his heart and mind are no threat to our marriage. That without his dedication to the word "Marine" and all it stands for - honor, courage, patriotism and devotion to duty - he would not be the man he is. I try to be familiar with the job so I can appreciate his abilities. I wait when long hours of tour of duty seperate us, knowing our reunion will revitalize our marriage. I pray for his success in his career and for his safe returns. I hope that he fulfills his career and that I will never be a deterrent. I share a common bond with those wives who waited during Belleau Wood, Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Iwo Jima, Ichon, Khe Sahn, Beruit, Grenada, Desert Storm... Knowing one day, I will be the one waiting. I choose to let the possiblity of loss increase the intensity of the moment, to live fully and to love completely. My husband has earned his right to be called "Marine". He has been tested and not found lacking. May I be as worthy of the title..."Marine Wife" God bless you and yours... Godspeed to your husband. |

Okay, KC, first of all a couple of pounds in two weeks would be fantastic. What more could you ask for? You don't have that much to lose in the first place. I'm ecstatic if I lose a solid 1/2 pound in a month. Unlike you, I don't have skinnier clothes to get into, *sigh*, I'm going to have to buy all new clothes pretty soon. Wish I'd worked in retail!
Cristal--you have ten weeks to go and the first two weeks takes a lot of adjustment. Keep on keeping on...don't miss any workouts, don't beat yourself if your diet isn't perfect, just keep striving to make it so. It's a mindset...that's the hardest part to nail down I find. I think you're going to do great in the end. |

Very good, Christal! You see that? Amazing how motivating results can be. Congrats on the incredible shrinking breasts...can't say I've ever wished for that, lol, but I do understand. I've been trying to sell my bf on how adorable my new B- breasts are. He just laughs. He did that the time I tried on a sexy Victoria's Secret corset, too.

Christal--Actually, I believe you on that. A couple of times I've worn pushup bras and inserts to where I was actually sporting cleavage and had the experience of guys looking at my chest while I'm talking and it weirded me out. It was an uncomfortable feeling. I also know that even when I was a full C running or doing aerobics was a bit uncomfortable. I can imagine when they are much bigger. I am pretty much used to NOT being known for my boobs, and I'm really okay with that.

Well, it's the end of two weeks and I sent in my stats. I really wasn't expecting much in the way of change due to working far too much, getting too little sleep and consequently not pushing myself as hard as I knew I could. Amazingly enough I did see some change and I can't wait to see what will happen when I really push myself.
New rules for the rest of the challenge: 1. Don't take on more work than can be be done in a reasonable amount of time. 2. Get more than 4 - 5 hours sleep a night. 3. Workout as hard as I know I can. 4. Try to eat a little more so as not to lose any more weight. 5. Keep picturing a smaller butt! :) -------------- Deni ------------------------ To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe. - Anatole France |

I too was pleasantly surprised that my stats had changed over the past two weeks! I was sick and missed a few days of exercise and then this week was hectic crazy and I had some horrible eating days!
We gave my daughter a surprise 16th Birthday party last night - I didn't even have one bite of the ice cream cake - that I made from scratch - and I only licked the knife once while making it! YEA ME!!! I can control myself and make good choices! Maybe that will be my new mantra - like Amy's has on her signature line..... Well, I can keep up that pace for about 3 weeks, then I crash and burn for a night.....lol I've always liked being up for a good hour before my boys are up, just to relax and enjoy my coffee and I need a good hour after they're in bed to wind down. My biggest problem is that I've been doing this for so many years, that even when I do go to bed early, I lay awake 'til my usual time so I figure I might as well stay up and get something done.... I really need to retrain myself....lol-------------- Deni ------------------------ To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe. - Anatole France |

Ok, time for some pictures (prepare for horrible expanses of fat computer bloke).
The label should make it pretty self explanatory, I decided to keep a picture record of my progress and when I checked then out tonight it was actually quite pleasing! I still have another 20 - 30 lbs to shed so this is a work in progress! i think the last two weeks i have really done a shit job i dont know why maybe cause i started back at work and have alot of stress planning my daughters christening anywayi have put on a kilo :-( but i plan to get right back on the wagon for the last few days of the week and see if i can make an improvement. played netball tonight and most of the time i just feel like a huge let down cause i am alot slower than the other girls, sometimes i think they deliberately dont throw the ball to me because of this and to think 3yrs ago i played A grade. i just feel dissapointed in myself.

Christal, remember what we said about falling down? Make sure you get back up again!
It's a long haul to get back to where we're aiming, keep your eyes on the goal. Take that disappointment and turn it into determination. Look at why you stumbled, understand the reasons and determine to learn from it. You can do it! |

Christal - Here is my .02 -
Get yourself a notebook, it can be plain or fancy, whatever floats your boat, and write down some clearcut goals for yourself - For example, my note book has at the top of the page : Ultimate, long-term goal: November 10th, Place in Northstar Competition Then I have broken that down into smaller goals that need to be achieved each month (pounds lost, etc), working my way back to the day I am writing the list. On the next page I start my daily goals - for example - today's page looks like this: Goals for Tuesday, March 20th: 1) Workout 2) Eat six clean meals, one every 3 hours. 3) Drink my gallon of water (this includes water yused for shakes, crystal lite, etc) 4) Do one session of cardio this evening. 5) Remember to take my supplements (vitamin, calcium, etc) 6) Write out my affirmations. Your goals will vary, depending on the day, but you need to start building that sense of accomplishment that comes with checking off all the little things that you do successfully, every day, that will add up to your ultimate success. Number 6 on my list is another biggie - affirmations that state what your desired outcome is in present tense terms = they help reprogram your brain. Some examples of affirmations in my notebook are : "I am naturally lean and muscular" "My metabolism is faster every day" "I am so happy and thankful now that I am 150 pounds and 10 percent bodyfat" (this is my goal for Mid-October) "My muscles are healthy and full" "I recover and grow easily from my workouts" Your affirmations can be simple or complex - but they nee to be positive and present tense, as if they are already occurring. Sounds corny, but it has been proven to work. Also, look for Flyonthewall's post about the mental aspects of getting fit, i will bump it if it isn't still a sticky.. Chin up and get determined - you can accomplish anything you truly apply yourself to, but it takes dedication and action. -------------- If you doubt you can accomplish something, then you can't accomplish it. You have to have confidence in your ability, and then be tough enough to follow through. Rosalyn Carter |

hi everyone,
i'm brand new to all this: this site and working out. im a mother of two kiddies, both under the age of 2 1/2! i'm 19, 5'2, weigh 125 lbs, and according to my weight scale, i have 30-36% fat. Look wise, (as my mother puts it) i wear a barrel, with arms and legs stickin out of it! AKA i have pudge in my middle section, not really much in my back, but as some of you know what your midsection goes through after giving birth...TWICE in 2-3 years! i dont have much for equipment...a ball, jumprope, 2 lb dmbells. soon like in a wk i will be getting a cable weight system for lat pull downs, leg extensions, and two other basic exercises that i dont know. what should i do to build muscle, lose fat and become lean? and also there is this new machine called gravity force by body by jake, that has 7 in 1 type deal...does anyone know if this will really produce the results i want? i dont have much room for equipment thanks!! |

Well, I had a real cheat day yesterday, not planned. Started out with my oatmeal but no eggs. I was responsible for bringing in food for a meeting so I planned to eat that for lunch. I ordered healthy, tasty Lebanese food. Shiskabob grilled chicken, lamb and beef, parsley salad, another salad, hummus, eggplant dip/sauch, all very healthy if a little high in fat. Didn't eat the rice or pitas. Not at first. At the end of the day we were distributing leftovers and I got into the rice, mixed it with the hummus and eggplant dip, then said to myself "what are you doing?" and threw the rest away. This was a half hour before I was due to meet my boss and some other coworkers at a restaurant where I had:
2 glasses of wine two rounds of cracker bread with butter 3 mushrooms sauteed in butter and garlic 3 pieces of very greasy cheese bread, one dunked in the mushroom butter/garlic sauce beef wellington (which I polished off rather swiftly) I did have a baked potato and asked for the butter, sour cream, etc. on the side. And I didn't end up using them and only had two bites of my dry potato. There were a few fresh veggies on my plate, which I ate of course along with some celery. Guess what? I didn't even feel that full. I didn't get indigestion. If there had been more food in front of me, I would have kept going. I can't remember the last time I ate like that. But then again, my boss was paying. Okay, I just wanted to confess. I've been nearly perfect up to this point. Now today I am 5 lbs. heavier than I was this time 2 weeks ago. |
