It has been quiet, maybe because the hard work continues while the motivation dwindles. I know for my part my knee injury is giving me a great excuse not to do CV. Physio on monday so I'll at tleast find out whether it is the joint (as I suspect) or the muscle (as a Dr said).
Maybe to keep the motivation going publish the tale of the tape so far for those that are willing, I certainly would be. It might be nice to see successes and offer support for each other. Just a thought. Jon |

Maybe the stats will help bring back some of that motivation that is dwindling. Did everyone take before pictures? If so and you are lacking in motivation take another set of them. It should help.
Now I need to go buy some more workout clothes because I look silly with these oversized gym pants on. :)~ |

jonshez = sorry to hear about your knee - is this a recurring injury or a new injury? I hope you get it all sorted out soon. Keep eating right, you may still see results!
Isn't it great when your pants look ridiculous, not because they are too tight, but because you can't keep them up? I had to finally give up a favorite pair of workout pants this week - I looked like a kid wearing her Dad's pants or something, too big, too long...hitching them up all the time. Gotta love it!:) If people let me know how much information they are comfortable with me posting, I will post it (or you can post it). If you think that will help motivate people let's do it! -------------- Permanence, perseverance and persistence in spite of all obstacles, discouragements, and impossibilities: It is this, that in all things distinguishes the strong soul from the weak. The knee is a new injury and very frustrating. I was doing a squat 3 weeks ago and the knee cracked. I didn't think anything of it, I'm not as young as I used to be and they do pop occasionally. That afternoon it cracked on every step on stairs (no pain though) and the movement of the knee meant I could feel the crack in my hip, very odd. A few hours later, swelling but still no pain.
Over the next weeks the joint would crack even walking on a flat surface (still no pain although I can't close the knee up fully) and I dropped any squats and lunges. Then last week one final crack and now pain. The pain comes when the knee is straight, I still can't bend it all the way (it feels like it is building pressure for a crack when I try) and pivoting on the knee is a no-no. What is weird is I can do cycling and cross-trainer no problem without any pain. Went to the ER and he said I had torn the quad, which just doesn't 'feel' right. Tomorrow I see my physio for my rotator cuff so I'll ask him while I'm there. Hmmm, that was a lot of boring old info in the wrong thread and to people who probably don't want to read it! Stats, post up any of mine Amy - I'm happy to let people see them. Jon |

BRING IT ON PEOPLE I AM KICKING YOUR BUTTS I KNOW I AM BRING IT ON!!!!!
Hey Jon it is quite possible about the quad dude...its called the rectus femoris or something like that I had to work it intense when I had my football MCL ACL surgery in high school... The muscle connects from hip(pelvis) to top of knee...very common for it to pull because its attached at both joint especially hard dip motion of the body such as lunges squats etc...good workout for it without the pressure or deep deep angles try some light leg presses ON A MACHINE not free weighted -------------- Jason Fox 6\\'1\\" 378lbs-PR\'s: 315-DL 135-Curl, 220-Bench, 205-Military, 285-Squat Problems are only opportunities in work clothes-Henry J. KC, my wife got that from everyone, including me I'm sorry to say. I think it was some concern (because it came out of the blue) coupled with fear of an eating disorder, coupled with disbelief that it was actually possible without clever diets or pills!

Jay, I know what you mean. It just didn't 'feel' like a muscle. Turns out it was a (let me try to remember right) low-grade damage to the meniscus. Damaged cartilage causing swelling and stiffness, the click and clunk being the thigh bone clunking over the tear in the cartilage. Avoiding squats, lunges etc until it settles, but CV is ok provided not impact stuff like treadmills.

KC--regarding the 'you're too skinny' comments, I think people are just so used to seeing people who are overweight they think that's normal. They don't know what healthy is supposed to look like!
