I know now why I do it. Because it makes me feel good and strong. I think it also makes me look good. Im sure its good for me too, but I wouldn't do it for just that reason. How about you? ---------------------------- "Get everthing you want--just make a little change now" |

I kind of like the Seinfeld line, I work out to be able to get through this workout!! :>} Seriously though, it has any number of benefits, not the least being better health, and better mental state. Self confidence. Raises one self esteem. |

I became interested in the gym world at a pretty early age. My brother was an NPC bodybuilder, and I remember how much I would enjoy watching his whole competition 'routine' of training, dieting, etc. I am a very competitive person, so when I got older, I decided to hit the gym as well (pretty decent genetics, ya know...LOL). But what bothered me at that early stage was how I thought BB was so subjective in competition, and also how bodybuilders were always comparing themselves to each other. So, I decided to go after powerlifting. I believed that it was much more objective: the contest was between you and gravity, and either you moved the weight or you didnt. God knows that, at that point, my being healthy was the furthest thing from my mind. As I became more involved in it, I discovered a huge brohterhood within the weightlifting world, and I enjoyed it. I also discovered how wanna be bodybuilders (never the real, serious ones) would treat me with malcontent once I informed them that I was a powerlifter... it only fueled my desires even more (LOL).-------------- Michael "Trample the weak; hurdle the dead!" |

If I don't work out I get tired and frustrated...... Easy as that; I simply need it to be able to feel good. Now getting a great body out of it, is just one of the positive side effects. That's just the training, the diet on the contrary sucks!! (o; But one loves the results, so one continues...... -------------- - Nina :o) Les Victoires éternelles sont celles du coeur. |

I do it cause it boosts my self esteem up. I also do it cause it gives me an example that "I need to work at it in order to get the results that I want." And this helps me because that theory could relate to anything in life.-------------- Tiffany Der #10 "You have to make it through the rain in order to see the Rainbow........." |

It makes me feel good mind and body. I worked out when I was yonge than got away from it for about 15 to 20 years. Now I am back I have goals I want to reach and have seen good progress toward them since I started here. Working out has realy helped me with a pashon I have Martial Arts. It was hard to keep up with the 18-20 year olds, being told they would take it easy on me realy pissed me off, so I am doing something about it. I quit smoking 6 months ago best thing I have ever done, now I am losing fat gaining muscle and in the few short months I have been here I have noticed a lot of difference I can keep up with the 18-20 year old now without feeling dead after ward my speed and endurance have both increased a great deal. And I owe a lot to you folks here for the help and advice. Well guess I got carried away sorry about that but you get the jist.-------------- Never be afraid to try something new. I as everyone here workout for a number of reasons...better health, looking good, etc. But I am kinda like Rev cause though I used to lift to look good, I am now lifting to beat the weight LOL, I swear that it has a mind of its own. However the most important reason is to battle depression. Since I started lifting 7-8 years ago I have not been depressed. Before that I was very depressed, on mediciation, (which helped me, but after a while was the cause of the depression growing), the drugs had a side effect which was weight gain. That led to a deep depression, that was only fixed by my lifting. So to remain sane I lift!-------------- Life comes by only once....Live it to the fullest! |

I feel better than I have when I was 17. My mind set is focused and I enjoy many physical activites that would otherwise be to tiring. When I finish my workouts,Im able to put in at least 12 full hours of activity. I sleep better, I interact better and I enjoy better...my life. The days Im not doing the gym or healthy thing. EVERYONE KNOWS IT :)including ME. Keep the body alive.....and thats for allowing us to share what everyone already knows. Being healthy makes a difference. Ciao heading to the gym :) |
