IT dependson what is on them of course. They are a complex carb but there are better choices for losing weight. I would still eat them but limit how often and replace with sweet potatos, brown rice in stead.

As long as they fit into your daily caloric allowance, poatatoes are a great food for weight loss - they have fiber, potassium, vitamin C...I love baked poatatoes and dropped 50 pounds while eating a baked potato nearly every night with dinner.
Your total overall calories (intake/expenditure balance) will be what determines your weight loss. granted you get better results cutting out refined foods and junk, but potatoes, In my opinion, do not fall into the 'bad' food category. Plus they are inexpensive :)

There is nothing wrong with potatoes, other than the amount you eat. A lb. of mashed potatoes and gravy for instance is obviously bad. Amy states it right, fit them in your calorie requirements, and they are a great nutritional source.

I can't eat a baked potato without a lot of butter, bacon, maybe some cheese, sour cream, etc. If you can avoid those then I agree with everyone above.

lol, ecle5c - try it this way - prick it with a fork, rub it with olive oil and roll it in coarse sea salt. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees and roast it in a pan for 1 hour. so good you don't need anything on it!
Or I top it with.....salsa, or taco meat (homemade extra lean), lopwfat red sodium gravy, smart balance omega, lowfat or fat free sour cream...there are tons of healthy ways to top apotato.

My Irish ass can cook a potatoe more ways than you can count. However, one of the best ways is still to microwave it for 10 minutes, cover it in cottage cheese, and eat it out of a bowl.

I just didn't eat them, but those are pretty good ideas.

Just had a baked potato for the 1st time in like 3 years toped with Smart Balance, FF Sour Cream, Fresh Ground Peper and Fresh Ground Sea Salt.
Kids loved it also, I love my Sweet Potato but this was a nice switch up that will stay in the family.

I will try the Cottage cheese!
Do you heat the cheese on it after or put on cold as it seems I will heat it as I like it heated?
