Hey just needed to vent a little here. I really hate my job!! It creates needless stress and anxiety for me and my wife. The bad thing is that we are expecting our first child and i need it for the benefits. It does not pay all that well but I am stuck between a rock and a hard place! Oh well, I feel better, thanks for listening. LOL

Hope you are seriously looking for something better...although, the job market is a little saturated at the moment. But I'm sure you'll find something better...there's always something better!

Good luck!

Whenever I'm angry, frustrated, sad or just extremely annoying I always work out. I go for a long run, or I hit the dumbells and work out without thinking about anything but reaching the limits (be careful of not hurting yourself thou!!).
Anyway, what I want to say is that getting tired physically can really help you feeling better. At least that's my therapy.
Don't worry, you'll find a new and a lot better job. Stay head high and congratulations with becoming a father soon!!!

I am one of the dreaded telemarketers. I call and sell DSL internet services. It sucks but since I have a degree in anthropology and no chance of finding a job in that field right now, at a loss as to what to do.

mutt, I hate my job, too. I only have less than 2 months before I resign, but everyday is a struggle. My new supervisor has no people skills and I find what I do extremely boring.

7707mutt, I'm gonna make you feel like a lucky man now. I retired from 21 yrs at a max security state prison. I was in 15 or more brawls a day at times, I never liked to fight, I'm just good at it. I was injured on the CERT (swat) team and got transferred to midnight shift to heal. The first thing I noticed was my wife complaining that she wanted my back on day shift as I was a miserable SOB at home. She said that I needed the fights to release my pent up aggression. Enjoy your time on the phone. 20/20 hindsight being what it is, I would have rather been a gardener. Congrats on the baby, the little guy will make your toils worth it. I have 2 of my 4 grandchildren living with me, I'm one lucky man for it too. They change EVERYTHING, your perception being the first.

Okay,
I'm going to jump onto this one now. I HATE MY JOB. HATE IT. There is not one part of me that likes it. I worked for a very large bank, my boss was getting laid off, so I went with him to another large bank. I hate this place. The people suck, the company is so far behind the times on everything it is unreal. Everyone is out for themselves and only themselves and it's absolutely disgusting. They keep saying things will change, but I don't think so. It also goes majorly against my beliefs to work for a bank because I think they are part of a corrupt system that only helps facilitate a modern caste system. I don't know what to do. I want to sell everything I own and move into the woods where the rest of the world can't find me. I'm going to look for another job, but I will probably be unhappy there too. I just can't find something I like to do, that actually pays well.

I couldn't have said it any better. I'm going to read Walden and put a tent up in my parents backyard.

There are times when I want to bail and head to the mountains, its where I'm happiest. But the mountains got crowded by other miserable people making them just another miserable stop on the runaway train. You gotta be happy within yourself, fark the jerks of the world. I have this look I give the morons I run into, it conveys my utter contempt for their actually breathing air on my planet. A convict once told me that "you gots nuthin to worry bout in here Mr J, cuz yous a killer, we see it in your eyes." I should maybe take up poker at Binions.

Well, I am with Michael, I love my job....except when I have to work weekends and late hours because we don't get paid overtime. If we are in the field it is great-- free camping trip...lol. The pay isn't bad but not great either. The only thing that is great are the benefits..gotta love 100% for the whole family. Hey, maybe you guys could join, we could use some good, dedicated people in the Marine Corps. You won't get bored much...but sometimes you have to put up with bull$&%* but that is sometimes fun to. Rank has its privelages.

I actually considered joining up, but if I wanted to be in prison I'd just kill someone. I can't handle authority very well, so I'd have a horrid time.

So post a resume on monster.com! It will even help you create a resume if you do not have one. Good luck.

Hey - you could be me..in this friggen lousy market and just recently fired unjustly. I mean...6 months into the job....not a work ever said and bam - hit with a written counseling statment and terminated. Nothing I can fight because of being an at will state but pissed me off since I really made improvements and put in many hours to get things that were wrong, corrected. And in all said and done, it really hurts because I am...a dedicated hard working individual. This time I want to find something I will be happy with...that in itself will be hard. I really hate to see what companies have done to the average employee. Many companies out there just don't quite get it, they use and abuse the employee - extending them with overtime which they feel they have to do to keep the job...to only tear the families up. You see it all the time, people dedicated to the career and not their spouse or family. And then the personal problems roll in. Sad society we are becoming. Sorry, had to jump in on this and say my piece. I PRAY I find something decent, I TRY SO HARD to to the right thing only to keep having damn roadblocks!

I understand, trust me. I have been thru almost exactly what you have. All I can say is that with the economy the way it is I am trying to keep it cool here and do the job as best as I can. It is all I can do.

I agree with the posts above.
One thing I do when I get stressed out is hit the tread mill at the gym. (Stomp Out Stress) S.O.S :)
I make good $$ at my job but very agrivating work. The only people I hear from are unsatisfied clients. I have 3 kids and a wife and they make up for ALL the unhappiness on the job. I had my 10 yr old son at the gym with me last week for the first time and all I can say is, THATS HappYNESS.
If your good at dealing with people try getting a job as a company rep in sales, you might be good at it.

Good luck

I would love to get a sales job....unfortunately I never got my degree and most want a degree or a sales record - both of which I don't have. Don't we all wish we could find our dream jobs? It certainly is TIME I did considering I went thru this same dang episode same time last year. But the way times are.."aient the first, aient the last". I just hope to find something decent and worthwhile!

Well, to tell you the truth I'm a sales Rep for a major trucking company.Although the trucking industry is not the most stable industry, it pays good $$. Perhaps start out as a customer service person and move up from there. I started in the industry by washing trucks after school and worked up from there. It is a very stressfull industry and the work-outs really relievve the stress!
