Look, we all need to break away from it all..work,friends,homelife......what have you and spend some quality time with our significant others...especially since we're making the most of our bods and while we still looking decent, getting around (ha) decently - go off for some romantic time together....SO - what are some places that were just..........great to go to? Me? Did go to Hawaii (which at the time was..boo...alone) but if I can ever go again.......I'll take my now..significant other!) Just wondering where some other great spots are!

Ah there are so many romantic places. There is a roof top restaurant at the Old El San Juan in Puerto Rico overlooks the ocean and pool at night soooo beautiful...a sunset on a boat at Smith Mountain Lake in the Blue Ridge Mts (W Virginia)... one of my favorites a warm starry night floating on a boat at Keuka Lake( NY).

Keuka Lake in NY, as Itroisi mentioned, is quite nice. Just don't fall in - c-o-l-d water (don't ask how I know that one)!!

For our honeymoon, my wife and I went to Super Clubs/Braco Village in Jamaica. It was one of the most beautiful and romantic places I've ever been. I'm sure all of the all-inclusive resorts in the islands are beautiful.

We have to help ARNOLD get a life :o)
Yeah - if totally single...Im sure the sites at a Gold Gym can be....an eyeful...but I'd rather stick my body on some tropical island sipping a Mai Tai with my sig other or at LEAST walking it off down the beach with the warmth of the waves floating over my feet.....hummmmmmmmmmm a vacation at some of these suggestions would be OH SO FINE!

ok ok.. we get the picture! :)

But really.. for me lying around on the beach is very boring for me.. I need to keep busy.. do productive things. I'm the type who will go away somewhere and view the sites.. take in culture.. history.. the essence of the different worlds. I plan on back-packing across Europe shortly.

get away? sheeeeeeeeeesh! i dont even rememeber that last vacation that i took......oh well. i guess thats the draw back to running a company. i do agree with arnold, tho: i have to be doing something. i cannot just be "sitting there;" i am waaaaaaaaaaaaay to hyper for that.
but i guess living in the entertainment capital of the world, an evening's vacation is only about 15 minutes away.

Now - guys - don't even think for a moment that I just sit there and baste in the sun....dreaming - actually same way...because I can't sit still and if you are where sites are to be discovered, seen - you have to spend the efforts doing so. (Actually, in the past, I've looked into gyms where I go so I can continue to work out!) Im not coming back from any vacation putting on pounds. Actually, there are wonderful places out there and I figured some folks on here would share their experiences!

Now Arnold, if you are really moving your butt to go out back packing across Europe then you definitely have to come to ME!!!!! (I got nice dumbells in my gym as well!! :o)

I'll show you the dune.... (great gluteus and calf exercise to walk up of that one!!)

My romantic getaway? I'd have to say anywhere that doesn't have my two fighting kids! I'd go to a motel 6 and eat fast food! Anything! **Calgon, take me away.....**

Might as well pitch in my own two cents...

Since I live in Barbados... Guess where I'd suggest you all come? LOL

Yup... check it out: www.barbados.org

Beautiful Island, we have hiking, horse back riding, water sports of all kinds, cycling, jogging/walking groups, races etc...

Not to mention about 3000 hours of sunshine per year *winks*

And the best rum in the world...

Any takers?

Anywhere not too cold would be lovely.

Ibiza was too hot last year and I think I'm getting a bit old for the clubbing scene............

Hoping to maybe go the Greece next month for a week, then maybe a weeks travel in Scotland.......... If my boyfriend is up for it............

The boat and lake above sounds really nice........

Since I'm a teacher supporting a family on a salary of nearly nothing, most of these places aren't even an option. My romantic getaways tend to be places around town with lots of trees and not much noise. Actually, as long as my baby is with me, any place has the potential to be romantic. It's all about the love, not the place.

Before I started making decent money, I was the king of inexpensive romantic. All it takes is more thought and less money. To be honest, making more money has made romantic trips easy. I have to put little or no thought into it now.

Either home (Venice, Italy) or across the Atlantic (Venice, CA). Ive never been to Muscle beach, Gold's Venice... spent a year in L.A. but never got to see those great sites. Too bad.
Vietnam is another place. I would spend my retired days there :-P.
Tired of this place (UK).. weather is sad... :(((

The only thing I can imagine being romantic in Vietnam is the night sky. Its a desperate communist dung pit otherwise. The weather is an abomination of monsoon and typhoon. The food staple in the southern most part of it is dried rat and rice, the northern part being fermented fish and rice. I'm really not a fan of those little buggers, they had a reward on my head 32 years ago. Watch where you step and import your own water, agent orange being what it is. Otherwise, Bon Apetit, give em my love.

Oh, I am so excited. I plan on going home in September for my anniversary and my husband is planning something nice. Won't tell me what it is but has been asking for ideas. There is a dinner cruise where they play the game "Clue". It is two hours long and during dinner, they turn off the lights and when they come back on, they have had a murder and the guests have to try and figure out who it was that committed the crime. It sounds like a whole lot of fun, but we are looking for something a little more romantic. Just thought that it was a cool idea.

Careful Lisa, Poppa's gonna maybe whack ya.lol We have a cruise out of Philly that goes out to sea and returns 6 hours later...but you'll never catch me playing Clue with my wife on board. She would leave notes everywhere, he did it, he did it, he did it, then jump overboard just to toast my azz.

That is funny, but Poppa ain't gonna whack anyone. I'll get him first...lol That sounds like a good cruise, maybe I will let my dad know about it. He is gonna remarry in September and I don't think they plan on a long honeymoon and he is by Allentown.

Out here we have a cruise that goes around the bay, (circles Alcatraz, Sausalito, etc) and serves dinner. They have dancing after dinner is served. It's pretty cool.

What is it called? The few times I've been to San Fransisco, I haven't had the time to go to Alcatraz and would love to go. My husband has been. Sounds like fun, let me know and I will have him check into to, we are only about 2 hours away from Frisco. Thanks for the tip Cain.

I'm from Florida, and if you are interested in coming here...I'd suggest Daytona Beach, Delray Beach, Panama City Beach, South Beach, etc for beaches. We have some nice rivers up north also: the Suwannee, St. Johns, etc. It really depends on what you wanna do and what you can afford. The Keys are quite nice, I took a girlfriend there in high school...we had a little cottage by the beach (don't read too much into this, in the Keys, EVERYTHING is by the beach)...so all we had to entertain ourselves was the water, sky, sun and each other...it was very nice. It really just depends on you and your partner, but I think that almost anywhere ya go can be romantic...it's up to you:)

Wow - its cool to see this is till in the big picture. I need to win the lotto though to go to any of these places...I seem to be on a friggen bad luck streak (boo hoo lost my job) - so, someday, maybe I'll be able to go somewhere other than...Ohio. Great insights though on some places to go!

If you want secluded, you should try the Cook Islands. They are off the coast of New Zealand. They are how Hawaii was over 50 years ago. You can get a bungalow right on the beach, and fresh fish for dinner every night! Plus the exchange rate from US$ is great! Crystal teal blue water...white sands... I think I am going to go book my flight now. :O)

I don't have a lot of time or money for travel but that doesn't mean there isn't a romantic get away for me. Me and my Significant other have very odd schedules. When I work morning he usually works evening, and when I work evening he some how ends up working mornings. But every so often we get a day off together. This usually starts the night before with candles and cool drinks in the bedroom. We then make an affort to sleep in and once we do get up we don't get out of bed. We lay about talking and whatever else happens to happen. Then ( without bothering to dress) we head to the kitchen usually around 1 or 2pm. We make ourselvs whatever we want to eat and then pop in a movie. Usually a comidy or a romance. Later is a dinner out. doesn't matter where. Then we return home to candles, cuddling, and falling into a peacful sleep.

A romantic get away isn't always a place, it's a mind set. It's about forgetting the rest of the world, bills, chores, and work. And just letting the day be consumed with and by your significant other.

I stayed with someone I knew about hours drive from Ottawa during the winter, talk about peaceful, then a skating on the Rideau Canal, snow and amazing skies.

But given the choice now I’d be in Mexico, that’s where my girl is. And travelling across the country in a bus doesn’t sound much. But watching the sunrise in the back of a half empty air-conditioned coach 200miles from anywhere with the one you love curled up asleep against you is a wonderful feeling.

But I agree with Michelle a bit of piece and quite and the right company and anywhere can be special.

BUMP!

There is this greek restaurant near me. you go thru some iron gates into a yard that is full of vine trees and wrought iron tables, terracotta pots, etc. Then when you get in there, the walls have been made very thick and whitewashed, and the place is lit by candles in jars. It really feels like you're in the med!
