Yeah, whats up with the old crew?
Have they lost their motivation? Have they found a new training site? Have they stopped caring about motivating everyone here? Maybe they got scared at the thought of a new MUTT Brand competition and they went to go hide in their little holes! I saw the bat signal... What do you need, Commissioner Gordon?
You folks crack me up!LOL "You're overtraining! - Rest your joints!". So I rest. "Where's da Saxman, he must be slackin'!". Sheesh! Loved the "...got their dander up.." comment, Asimmer! Life is just keeping me a little busier than normal, but I assure you all that my training and motivation have not fallen into a hole somewhere - they have actually improved (I guess I value (even more) what little free time I have). Also, my joints are feeling much better after resting for a bit. My body fat is dropping (slowly). Folks at the gym are actually commenting on my progress. Waist measurements are still dropping - slowly, but still dropping! Arms and back are getting bigger, too! Not Mutt big, but old fart big. Happy happy. Training Note: It is true (at least for me it is) what they say about "If you want bigger arms, squat. If you want bigger arms, deadlift." I've been doing squats and deads twice a week, lately, with less isolation work on arms. My arms are actually growing again! Squats and deads, folks! And I learned that you don't really have to go insane crazy with the weights to see results. I know that heavy squats and heavy deads are king, but well-executed, moderate-weight squats and deads are better than isolation exercises (or nothing)-- at least for me -- for now. Old rant, I know, but it's like teaching your kids life lessons... Sometimes they just have learn things for themselves. I guess one becomes a pro at this when he stops being amazed that it actually works, and just accepts it. Sorry if I let any of you down by not reporting for duty in a while. I truly am itching to get back here... Hectic, work-related life stuff again... Next life I'm going to be born wealthy instead of good looking... Wait a minute... Damn - short-changed again! Absence makes the heart grow fonder, eh folks? LOL I missed all you. I should be back real soon, though, posting more of my notoriously long-winded rants, so be careful what you ask for! <Shortly after Saxman's official return...> "Hey there, uhh, Saxman, don't you need another vacation?..." Victoria, I meant to tell you ... ATTA GIRL!!!
Muttersnapper, Yesterday I chugged my metamucil, strapped on a new depends, rode my scooter to my weightroom and knocked out a p/r on deadlifts. Last night after our workouts my wife and I were gumming our food down and she told me she had put up a new p/r on db presses. She's no threat to I-Am-Azon ....yet but look out children the geriatric generation is alive and kicking. I drove to work this morning in the left lane with my right turnsignal on in my 1965 Dodge dart with a feeling of extreme personal accomplishment. I'll also have you know that after my workout to the accompniment of the Ray Connif orchestra we watched the Hallmark special with that nice young man Gary Sinese. -------------- Living well is the best revenge. ...shhhh... hey az....i got a secret that makes hectic holiday planning a little easier... it might be just what you need... it's called homemade almond orange biscotti... and don't you dare remind me that biscotti has bad carbs. i know it does, but it's not as bad as a double chocolate carmel nut brownie with an egg-nog chaser... and one or two pieces can really take the "edge" off of holiday craziness - especially when you're not 110%. SPECIAL BONUS # 2: And, because they're hard as stone (like da saxman's abs, of course), I bet the rest of the batch would ship well - making a great care package, if you know what I mean...
...but don't tell anyone around here... my reputation is at stake.... don't want folks thinkin' I have anything less than 100% will-power... tsmd |

I only talk sexy for very special people.
My workouts will be posted again probably after the hectic holidays. Glad to know that my feeble weights are motivational, Charlie! Seriously, the comparison stuff can be fun, but don't lose sight of the bottom line - you gotta do this for you. The only person you're competing against is yourself. Don't let others' numbers pull you down. I've discovered that the one big plus in comparing numbers is that it sometimes forces you to try a weight that you would have otherwise considered impossible. It can help you to break past self-imposed mental "limits". You need to do that every so often. Just be careful. TSMD |

No comparison, fryer. They play sax for a living - they play well, but it is still their job. When you play to feed the family, I think you lose some of the true muscial passion - and audiences recognize that (you sometimes see this in professional sports, as compared to high school and college sports, as well). Our audiences have a blast, and so do we - because we want to, not because we have to. And the kids we help are truly grateful (all the money we make is donated to charities - over $100,000 so far). You couldn't pay me enough to put in the studio hours and practice time I do if I wasn't passionate about the fans, the charities, and the music. Plus, I'd stack my almond orange biscotti against theirs anyday... And I could probably out-squat them, too! No insecurites here, fryer. So there!

Pleeaassee, tell me how you really feel....Hit a nerve did I?....Anyway; I like listening to Koz, Sanborn, Brown, Chapin, and Carter to name a few....All Sax players such as yourself..I also like to dabble with creations around the ole Grill...Matter a fact, dabbled around the grill cookin up something for my brother( our unsung musician hero ), he was the one who told me that Koz and Sanborn like to dabble around the kitchen...Anyway, by the looks of them, and the looks of you; you could definately out squat them, out bench, out lift, and more likely, break them in half when you wanted to...They may look like wimps, but I like them; of course I like;
AC/DC VAN HALEN MOLLY HATCHET QUEEN STYX TED NUGENT OZZY STEVIE RAY ZZ TOP ok, I'll quit now... Keep doing what your doing, it sounds awesome...Sorry if I pissed ya off... |

I hope I didn't leave you with the impression I was upset - or that you hit a nerve even. But you started it -- comparing me to those little girlie sax players! (Just kidding Koz and Dave - I love you guys, too!) Seems my posts are coming off as "angry" lately... and I'm not sure why I'm an easy-going and lovable guy. Always. I guess my warped sense of humor may need some explaining at times. "Break them in half"? Not me. I'd walk away before I'd ever hit anyone. UNLESS THEY COMPARED ME TO DAMN LITTLE GIRLIE SAX PLAYER COOKS! Now leave me alone. I gotta go bake something. TSMD |
