My current (miserable) stats are:
Body composition 23.25% fat mass at 178lbs (I am a big girl) That is 41 lbs of fat and 137lbs of lean tissue mass. I know - awfully big right now, but I bounced up from my competition. My measurements find me kind of rectangular at the moment - Chest 37.5" Waist 37" (zoinks) Hips 42" Biceps 13.5" (equal at least)(semi-relaxed, hands on hips) Forearms 11" (I'm popeye the sailor woman) Thighs Upper around largest area of quads and inner thigh, 26"Right leg / 26.5 Left leg Calves (around largest part of gastroc) 17" Oh, and my neck is 16". Alright - everybody, let's go!!!!! -------------- Challenge + Consistency = Results There...I saved you the trouble! |

Hello there. My wife, asimmer, has been going on about this site for some time and told me that you have a contest starting today for who can get in the best shape in a certain period of time. Now, I'm not the pretty one in the family and I haven't done a consistant workout program in about ten years. I am a plumber by trade, so I do plenty of physical labor on a daily basis (wrenching pipe, hauling out old water heaters and boilers) but it's the kind of work that doesn't translate into a slim waistline (just a sore back now and then). So, since my better half has been getting her friend ready for a competition these last few days, something snapped this morning and I no longer wish to look how I do anymore. Here's my stats:
Height: 6'1" Weight:236 lbs Age:will be 32 on Tuesday Chest:46in. Waist:43.5in. Hips:45in. Biceps L/R 15.25/15.5 in. Forearm L/R:12.5/12.75 in. Thigh L/R: 24.75/25.5 in. Calf L/R:16.25/16.5 Fat Mass:52lb.s Lean Mass:184lb.s Average % Bodyfat: 22% So, there it is. A far cry from ten years ago when I was 190lbs soaking wet (but beer will do that to you)but I am looking forward to being in better shape than I was then. Glad I can join in the fray! Good luck to you all. simmer2 |

Alright, Carivan!
I am glad to submit that I have lost 7 lbs so far, and I can see some new definition in my delts, which are decidely larger. i love it! I finally have my cardio up again and I once again have hit the point where I even sweat on my forearms (I don't know why, but that has become an indicator of fitness level for me). My workouts are kickin major a--. I put up 140 for 5 reps clean on my bench last week (and it wasn't the first exercise!), tomorrow is chest day again, cool. A good tip for you all if you want a really intense chest workout - do active recovery instead of just resting - I do decline push-ups inbetween each set of the first exrcise, the flat push-ups inbetween the sets of teh next exercise, and then incline push-ups inbetween the sets of the last exercise. Very hard!! but oh so effective! -------------- Challenge + Consistency = Results |

Congrats to carivan and asimmer! I think ya all read my progress report in the other post so we wont go there again! haha. You know, I could really use a spotter. Tried to get my neighbor interested, but he always has an excuse. I work out at home, so I dont have a gym full of people. Kinda tough on pushing it....

***Close grip pushups****BLAH..Ooh I started out hating those things!! Now I LOVE 'em because I can actually feel muscle in my tricep area now <smile> My exercise program didn't call for 'em yesterday, but I added some in anyway <smile> didn't think it would hurt to do just a ...few reps. |

When I was about 10 years younger, I used to break every hour and pump out pushups and situps (this was when I was in the service and wore cammies all day). Used to feel so great!!
My wife is doing her own routine (the non-weight one) and though she has strengthened up quite a bit, I dont trust her as a spotter. She is quite the little thing. |

great job asimmer, carivan and Ravenwolf!!! doing good! My job has a fitness room located in it, which is allowing me to get extra cardio in on my breaks. I started Monday and Tuesday doing the elliptical (spelling??) for 45 minutes and yesterday went on a 30 minute bike ride (thanks to Ravenwolf) Talk about heaping up on the cardio, had to brag about that since it was hard getting in HIITS three times a week! -------------- Bettia.... now i don't know all about RW having all his marbles...lol. If he had them all, i probably wouldn't be head over heels for him!!! lol!
Well our gym is not the fitness capitol of the world but it has a few things, major importance to me is a variety of cardio equipment, treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bikes, & steppers. So i use my breaks to do cardio. Must not take advantage of the few plus's my company offers me. They also pay half of fees if you have a membership to local fitness centers. Another thing that is really cool, they have allowed teams, whichever work groups choose to participate, have 20 minute team walks/jogs, and mind you this is outside of your regular breaks. Really sweet!!! -------------- Bettia.... When you feel like giving up, take it to the limit one more time!! You will SUCEED :-) |
