ok..so i live in germany, i just moved here a year ago. i have a big problem with nutrition cause i dont understand the german words on the labels. ( i can speak intermediate german but know nothing about nutrition ) also the food here are different then in the united states. for exapmle i looked at me normal breakfast bar, its really small and i eat a couple, it has like 450 calories..im like crap no i cant eat much of anything else today. i was a swimmer before swimming 4 hours everyday but sunday, i ate lots of carbs. now when i try to limit what i eat ( diet or small porpotions ) i am hungry all day and sometimes dizzy but when i eat to where i am comfortable its way to many calories. the food thing is really frustrating me cause i cant seem to get down to only 2600 a day and feel normal but i am not working out even close to as much as when i swam. what should i do?

You need to find some foods that are filling, but lower in calories. Personally I'm a fan of medium potatoes, baked or microwaved. One medium potato has 100-200 calories(pre condiments) per serving, and is pretty filling. Eating small meals throughout the day will stave off hunger cravings, and keep you from getting dizzy like that. I'm 6'1", 214 lbs and am happily eating around 2200 calories a day even when working out (I'm on a cut cycle right now).

Stick to a lot of fruits and veggies. You know they'll always be healthy, no matter where you are. Eat salads and put some grilled chicken or tuna on top for protein so they'll be more filling.

Protien is a great suggestion. Boiled eggs make an easy snack. Be careful with salads. Sometimes the toppings and dressings can kill you. If you have to get a salad somewhere other than home and don't have your own healthy dressing, be sure to order the dressing on the side then dip each bite into the dressing. You will cut your dressing consumption by about 1/3 (or more) that way.
Funny thing. I went to a fast food restaurant with family this weekend, I won't name the place. I always get nutritional information before I order so I can attempt to eat something reasonable. I was shocked to see that the roast beef sandwich and the grilled chicken sandwich (with mayo) only had 350-400 calories and less than 10 grams of fat. Where as the salads (several varieties) had between 800-1000 calories and over 25 grams of fat. They all had cheese, eggs, meat, nuts or croutons, bacon, etc. Yikes!!!

I always find it amazing when a salad that is suppose to be "good for you" is worse than a Big Mac

While it is your right to do this, I always like to encourage people to go ahead and call people and business out. I have no problem whatsoever putting someone under the spotlight, if nothing else it might help this industry to be held more accountable.

if you are in canada you can get letter of referral written by your family physician and see a Dr. that will help you with diet it is covered by OHIP. My sister & mother (both over 200lbs) have been on this diet and have lost weight and are not hungry

Wrestler, good idea. The restaurant was Arby's. My choices were Arby's, McDonald's and Burger King. I don't know why I felt like Arby's would be better, it's a mental thing. ha ha.

I eat Arby's occasionally. I tend to do the 5 for $5.95 deal and get 5 roast beef sandwiches. Sure the bread sucks and is processed and bleached beyond belief and the meat could be better but I have to think that the lack of grease, saturated fat (as in a burger), cheese, condiments, etc. make this at least a moderately decent fast food choice.

Just had to check out the nutrition of an Arby's medium roast beef sandwich:
416 cal
20g fat (9g sat, 1g trans)
30g protein
1379 mg Sodium (ouch!)

Think I'll stay away from the Arby's RB sandwiches myself..couldn't tolerate the fat and sodium levels!!

Fair enough....but just to clarify, the 5 for 5.95 deal uses the arby's melt with no cheese, smaller sandwich.

I checked the ingredients:
273 cal
10g fat (4 sat, 0 trans)
15g protein
740 g sodium

Still not great, but even eating 2 it still is not as bad as many burgers and fry meals.

But you're right, lots of sodium and not a great choice.

All the fast food places are scary. I've started collecting the nutritional information at different restaurants in a binder for reference if we ever go out. Seems to come in handy. It's always sad when you ask for it from the person behind the counter and they are like "huh?"
