Well - it has been proposed that we start a new 3 month challenge - KC needs a kick in the pants and I think we are just the foot she needs :)

Anyone up for a challenge? And what type of challenge shall we make it? fat loss? Just plain stick to a plan adherence ? Pick your poison :)

I will find a decent food plan and create a diabolical workout plan...just let me know what you want from it :)

Sure...How about a post your goal and see who comes the closest to meeting their goal? Maybe a BF% or....pant size... weight...lose inches....etc.

We are all heading in different directions it seems... so maybe it could be a broad range...

I am up for any type of challenge!

So - we could do a time specific goal of each person's choice and see who comes closest to the mark in 3 months - What do you think?

What is a good start date for everyone? Next Monday? that would give us time to figure out the food, do some shopping, have a last cheat meal :) that sort of thing, before getting to work.

I will use the title GKCBOT challenge in any threads pertaining to this challenge.

Since our goals are different, our meal plans, etc mayu have to be a little individualized - I will be glad to help anyone with specific plans through IM or email. But I will also post a sort of generic guideline with how-to adjust it for your goals - does that sound good?

As far as workouts go - since KC has been off from working out for a while I was thinking of maybe a toatl body circuit 3 times a week with cardio inbetween days - that is a nice way to get back into the swing of lifting and shed some unwanted pounds - let me know what you think!

Hmmm, I am on vacation in the middle of the 3 months and it will be for two weeks. I am still going to follow along, who knows maybe my vacation will be good for my diet, LOL.

I can start anytime everyone is ready!

Monday is good for me... my cheat day is...Wednesday this week.... whoo hoo pasta here I come... I walked in a Conv. Store this am..looked at the candy and it didnt even look good... what a feeling that was!

I like that idea Amy. I'd be going for wt loss/inches and 12 weeks is a great time frame...just in time for the holidays! I'll be kind of following my own plan, diet and exercise wise, but I always like to have other options available, so post your workouts and diet plans at will. Looking forward to the challenge!

Ok... so what really is a realistic goal for BF% loss per month?

Yes, it depends on how much bodyfat you have - figure it out this way:

Say you weigh 185 pounds at 30% bodyfat - that means you are carrying 55.5 pounds of fat (some essential) so that means that one percentage of fat for you is 1.85 pounds. You can expect to lose 1-2 pounds a week, so maybe a percentage a week, but more likely 2% a month - does that make sense?

A pants size is generally 10 pounds, but you have to remember that your weight may stay the same while you lose inches.

I think for most people the most important tracking tool is your tape measure.

I will make individual threads for workouts and for food plan, and, of course, for trash talking:)

KC.. I ordered a digital caliper from Bodybuilding.com. You can also goto a local Y or gym and have someone do it. I like the digital one because it beeps when the "correct pressure" is achieved. It will bruise you sometimes tho! Mine was on sale and was $29.00.

http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/acc/fattrack.html

there is a link to the ones I ordered. They are fast and very good about shipping too!... oh and if you enter the code "free straps please" you will get a set of free lifting straps when you order anything from there.

tim....I went to the y first and got tested. I then figured the exact points on my arm belly and thigh that gave me close to the same reading...about .2 over what the y came upwith. Easy for me to know because I locate my area off freckles! Mine is consistant and a good guage for me. As far as how accurate.....well its depending on the person doing it. It does beep when proper pressure is admin. I like mine.

I don't know if they can be perfect as far as the final number but if you do as GG says as far as taking all pains to be consistent in your measurement methods then you will at least get a consistently accurate comparison to the first measurement you take. Then you can track your progress.

Cool... I tell people (if you're not in it for exact accuracy) any method will be fine as long as one is consistent and the numbers go down.
