What type of protien shake can I take? What ingredientsdo I use? When should I have a shake ie) breakfast or after a workout. I'm 22, active, just aiming to lose a few pounds and tone up. I do cardio and weight training 3-4 times a week.

Take a look under the Diet and Recipe section - some good ideas.

That being said, remember that a shake is there only to help you supplement the diet that you already have. Clean kcals, timing, portions, etc., all need to come first. And they're all covered here, just do a search, and you'll find a ton of stuff.

BTW, welcom to FTs!

I doubt highly the protein shakes are your problem. However, pwo protein shakes are not a 'given'. That is, you still have to 'earn' it to make it worth doing, or it is simply extra calories.

What kinda of protein are you taking? MY buddy was on mammoth 2500 worked out 4/5 times a week and got a tire around is waist pretty quick lol. I got him to switch his protein to another type for our sizes and it worked better for him. He only weighed 155.

Protein for your size? Are you referring to a weight gain shake instead?

I totally agree bb1fit. You cant just take a protein supplement without taking into account the calories it contains. Even though someone works out 4-5 times a week, if their diet far exceeds the daily calories that their body expends, then where else do the excess calories go? You have to be very careful with weight gainers, because if you don't account for those calories they will live up to their name, and the weight you will gain will be the kind you don't want to see.
