Hey, all.
I am 18wks out from the Naturals here. Decided to start early and maybe not loose as much mass.
Feeling very motivated, but just wanted to post it so that you are all forewarned of the coming onslaught of questions (especially bbfit1!).
I have put on aroung 10 pounds of muscle (the comps will be more accurate as I lean out).
Okay, pretty excited and just wanted to say that when I need motivation this is where I look!

Hey - dieting for two weeks clean now, down three pounds of fat and already seeing visual differences! My supplements came yesterday, started on them this morning - think that will spedd things up considerably.
Feeling good, not as crabby as the last time I dieted down! (of course, it has only been two weeks)!
Thanks for the encouragement!

I wish I was superwoman, thank you. I feel a little more like super-obsessed woman!
All i do nowadays is take pills, measure food, cook food, eat food, take more pills, work out, measure food, take pills, eat food, work, eat.... Okay, no one is forcing me to do this, right? I have chosen this path..

Well, hate to let myself and everyone else down.. I suck.
I totally lost my motivation (lost my training partner, had a lot of life stresses combined at once, excuses, excuses). I am off and have my eye on next april instead. Again I will try to add some more mass, bring out my VMO more, bring up my shoulders and triceps... Sorry. I am tryng not to sound like the worlds biggest excuse maker.
I just wanted to update you all.
I'll climb back up...

Sorry to hear about that Asimmer. Just stay active and perhaps you will find a new training partner.
Too bad you are not in Montreal! I would be able to train with a pro.
Nice to see you here.

You are too strong to feel sorry for yourself! Get back in there and show everyone! You can do it, you have done it before. Competition level is a very tought thing to do, you know that as well as I and Nina. It is not bad that things happened, just use them as a stepping stone to be better for the next time around. Getting ready for a competition is so very strenuous anyway, and then life likes to throw you its own curves on top of that. Take care, as Nina says, keep your head up.

Thanks for the encouragement.
I aim to improve myself mentally and physically before setting my sights on the next competition.
My birthday present this year was an upright bicycle to replace the loveseat in my living room...

Hang in there girl. It seems that a LOT of people have been having a hard time of it for one reason or another lately. Must be something in the planets. (You are still my inspiration!)

Thanks.
Actually, one of my clients says mars is closer than it has been in some thousand years and it causes strife, fighting, etc. Maybe something to that...
I started reading Awaken the Giant Within by Anthony Robbins - highly recommend it...

hello asimmer! May I be forward and ask you one question? What did you do to make your thighs look so awesome?? That is the one area that I can NEVER seem to tame..not trying to add mass, but get rid of those Saddle bags!! Thanks!

Diet.
I ate clean for nine months (three different diet cycles), did cardio every day, twice a day towards the end, trained really heavily with one day of compound moves and one day of isolating moves. Lots of heavy walking lunges, lots of stepmill. Thank you.
Most women will hold on to their 'saddle bags' until they have lost all of their other bodyfat stores (stomach, back, chest). It takes a long time, a good diet and consistency in training. We aren't designed to be fat-free, but we can redesign over time.
Good luck!

So doing cardio everyday, didn't impede your muscle gains? I am getting confused about this.

I wasn't focused anymore on gaining muscle, just lifting heavy enough to keep it while burning fat.
I probably lost some mass towards the end, that was my first time dieting for a show and I had a lot of 'help' from people who mostly dealt with 'enhanced' athletes, so I am trying to desing it better for the next show and find more natural bodybuilders to consult. You don't need to do that much cardio if you keep your bodyfat lower all year long and take it down by reducing calories gradually and lifting heavy. I look at it as a learning experience and will take the useful parts and apply them next time and leave the other stuff behind.
If mass gain is your focus, do the minimum amount of cardio necessary for cardio health, 20-30 minutes three times a week.
If you are trying to lean up add a little cardio at a time, between phases of dietary change.
Have I just confused you further?

NOt at all, I just wondered if I was really lacking in the cardio department by only doing it 3x a week. When I first started, in 2001, I was doing more cardio, but I didn't see any more results than I am seeing now. I love the muscles I am getting, but would like to see the fat go away faster....wouldn't we all?
