So - It is that time of year again - time to get into tanks and shorts, maybe even a swimsuit in a few months - a lot of people had great results with this [plan last time, so I thought I would see if anyonme wants to do it again?
Here is what it entails - a 12-week workout/cardio and eating plan. Sending in your stats every 2 weeks (weight, measurements) What you get out of it : A group of people who are all doing the same thing and will offer each other encoutragement, commiseration and even some ligth-hearted smack talking. A better fitness level in 12 weeks Most people lost a lot of inches and felt great doing it! So - indicate your ineterst in joining and if therea re enough participants we will kick it off April 1st! Let's Go! PS - this challenge is run by me, and by entering it you are taking resposibility for knowing your own limits and will not hold me, Amy Simmer or anyone at Freetrainers responsible for any illness or injury resultimg from it (that is a general disclaimer, no one has been ill or injured so far from these challenges, but someone pointed out last time that I probably should have a disclaimer). Umm - prizes??? I might send you a cool t-shirt :) but the best prize is feeling great and looking good! -------------- Argue for your limitations, and sure enough, they\'re yours. Richard Bach |

Man, I should spell-check -sorry.
AEncouragement - not encoutragement (is that a french term?). Light-hearted smack talking, whats a ligth? Indicate your INTEREST... You will be taking responsibility, not resposibility.. I am on my 1st cup of coffee, forgive me :surprised: -------------- Argue for your limitations, and sure enough, they\'re yours. Richard Bach |

ill do it this time amy, is there a specific workout/diet to follow or are we on our own for that ? and measurements, what/where/ and where do we send em ?
Anyways, good luck people, but ill have the largest percentage of weight loss, so you might as well keep eating ya bon-bons and watching days of our lives, hehe... -------------- How do you feel? Okely Dokely, the only diet plan adjustments for me would be to watch my carb intake so my blood sugar doesnt sky-rocket but its all good.
Thanks in advance for the hard work setting up these challenges amy, remind me to send you some flowers ok, or even better, a few painted lady butterfly's, ive picked up a new hobby, yup, raising monarch and painted lady butterfly's from the larvae stage, my very 1st bach should be hatching in 3 weeks, ill keep ya posted... Go figure, a big brute of a guy like myself growing butterfly's and releasing them into the wild, its like one of you girls coming over and tearing the motor and trans out of my plymouth, while grunting like tim the tool man taylor, all greasy like... hehe -------------- How do you feel? I would love to join in on it, I think it'll be so much fun!
The only thing is, I'll be in England, Ireland, Wales, and Scotland April 12th-27th, so I definitely will NOT be watching my diet.. there are too many delicious and unique foods that I can't eat here haha! However, I'll still be able to exercise if the hotels we're staying at have a gym or pool. Plus, we'll be doing a lot of walking, so that'll help! Thanks for making this challenge, Amy, I can't wait to get started!! |

To be officially in the challenge I need to receive the following from you
(your stats will be only seen by me, when I publish results it will just list pounds lost and percentage of weight, and inches lost. Only inches from this set of measurements will be counted, measure other bodyparts if you want, but the sites I list will be the ones we go by): Weight (weigh yourself first thing in the morning if possible) Chest - Over (for women, around bust, largest area, for men at nipple height) Chest - Under (for women where bra would go around and men - around under pecs) Biceps - Both Left and Right(hands on hips, measure halfway between elbow and shoulder) Waist - (bellybutton, or where you wear your pants, unless they are lowriders) Just be surwe to neasure the same place each time. Hips - (widest part, when viewed from the side, really your butt, too) Thighs - both Left and Right(largest area, a few inches below hip/butt, you know, where those saddlebags hang out:surprised ) Calves- Both Left and Right(in the pasture no, seriously...at the thickest part, usually about 2-3 inches below knee) So - send in your stats and look for upcoming threads so you can plan your grocery lists and pack your gym bags -------------- Argue for your limitations, and sure enough, they\'re yours. Do you think that instead of doing the diet and exercise plan I could just stick with doing the exercises? I don't want to lose weight, I just want to lose inches by gaining muscle. I don't want to do this to win, just to get into better shape, but I don't really know if there are any rules to this challenge as I've never done one before.

Welcome Fay! yessica the diet that Amy has in mind (no I cant read her mind we chatted about it earlier) will help you get rid of the fat and gain lean muscle! Its best if done as she will lay it all out.-------------- Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. Security does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Alright Georgiagirl, I'll give it a shot. I just don't really diet. I guess it's because I'm 19 and metabolism is still in superdrive haha. I guess it'll catch up to me though, so maybe dieting will be a good idea, just as long as I don't lose too much weight; I don't want to look sickly.

Watch for posts in this forum with WSSC in the title. There will be one for the lifting routine, one for the cardio routine and one for the eating plan..whew and then maybe we will resurrect the recipe thread in the nutrition forum and add to it :)
To all the newcomers - Welcome! and WSSC stands for Winter to Spring Shedding Challenge (someone coined that term the first time we did it). This is starting to grow - I hope everyone stays with it - the challenege wioll run from March 31st to June 30 and there will be 4 week phases for the workouts. Cardio intensity will change weekly. The diet will stay the same unless you find you are having issues with it and then we can always try tweaking it for you. Feel free to start a Trash Talking Thread anytime now :) -------------- Argue for your limitations, and sure enough, they\'re yours. Richard Bach |

Hi all,
Hope you don't mind, but I really need advice on my food plan - want to make sure I'm on the right track before I start the challenge! I'm not confident in my carb/protein/fat ratio yet, but I have been trying to watch my cals, fat intake and protein intake - I'm hoping to learn the rest as I go along:) Anyway, here is a sample of my daily diet. Could you please advise me if I'm doing it right... meal 1 - bodybuilder pancake + banana meal 2 - tuna salad (cucumber, lettuce, toms, celery), with a little olive oil dressing meal 3 - bodybuilder pancake + apple meal 4 - chicken, pasta and pesto (with mushrooms and asparagus) meal 5 - natural low fat yogurt with honey and apple This works out at roughly 1500cals and 30g fat. |

Hi Fay!
Your diet looks okay, if you are losing weight on it and feeling energetic than I would say it is fine. If you want to switch to a ratio more like the one laid out for the challenge you will drop out some of the carbs, but that is up to you. You can do the challenge and use whatever eating pan you are getting results with. -------------- Argue for your limitations, and sure enough, they\'re yours. Richard Bach |

I so want in on this one! :) My only drawback is that I teach group fitness (dance/cardio based) classes 8x per week over 6 days = 8 hours worth. My fear of "overtraining" kicks in as 2 days per week I teach 2 classes. This in conjunction to holding down my 40 hr. per week "j.o.b" Thoughts?
