I wanted to hear feed back on the best belts. I do not use one but I am planning heavy squats and deadlifts and wanted to hear what you all thought.

I used to have a good old leather one. It was fine, but didn't give at all. I have a Valeo one now that i have had for years. It is great. They come in different sizes/widths and have a velcro release. It is solid.

Only use the belt when you start to take extremely heavy (otherwise you're actually risking to weaken your lower back/abs). For powerlifting? go ahead, protect yourself and use a belt.

I agree with Philia. I don't use a belt except when I'm maxing on squats. My lower back is alot stronger since I ditched the belt. But if you lift real heavy, better safe than sorry.

I never wear one, but I have been planning a pl routine in the near future. I do not really want to spend the money on it, but as you say better safe than sorry.

I always use one when going heavy on squats, deadlifts, and push presses/clean and presses. Other than that it is not needed.

It is definitely a must when working over 85% of your 1RM for certain exercises.

I have the good old fashioned leather one. It's currently collecting dust under my table...

I use a 6" Valeo one, very light and comfortable, I reckon it's horses for courses, I tried not wearing one at first believeing I could stenngthen my core better without one, but had a couple of close things that turned out ot be ok, but I took them as a warning and since then I wear one.
