today i had another bodyfat assessment done and i must say i am elated with the results. the last time i had a caliper test done was may 1. i was 32% bodyfat at 169 lbs. 3 months later i am, drumroll please, 17% bodyfat at 178 (that's retaining a little water). i gained 9 lbs but dropped my bf% by 15%!!

sadly i still have small love handles, but those will go away by september if i keep this up. a side note: no fat burners were involved. i pretty much did steady lifting and minimal cardio to get to this point. this is proof that lean tissue is the most effective fat burner there is. lift heavy!

thanks for the responses everyone, i just had to share that with all of you, especially because so many of you have been instrumental in keeping me motivated to get where i am.

a funny side note - when the trainer was taking my tricep fat measurement, he told me to stop flexing. the trouble is, i wasn't flexing, my tris are just that tight :dumbbell::big_smile::dumbbell:

of course...but it's far from perfect. honestly i don't know how i continue to lose weight. i need to add roughly 700 calories to my diet. 3000 is my maintenence mark, 2400 is my weight loss mark...i usually get around 1700, but i'm working on getting it up.

breakfast:
1 egg + 3 whites
1 1/2 cups of special k or 2 buckwheat pancakes

snack:
1 apple w/natural peanut butter

lunch:
1 package of tuna
1 c brown rice or 2 slices wasa crisp
1/3 avocado

snack:
peanutbutter chocolate chip tri-o-plex bar

dinner:
black beans, brown rice, and extra-lean ground buffalo or beef (w/spicy brown mustard...mmmm)

snack:
fat free cottage cheese, walnuts, and berries

i also take a multivitamin and have a protein shake on workout days. like i said, it's not enough, but i'm working on getting it up.

Thank you!!

Do they sell the wasa crisp in regular grocery stores or do you go to a specialty store?

UMMM, avocado sounds DIVINE!!

Do you add anything at all to the tuna or just drain it from the water?

Do you use sugar free syrup on the pancakes?

I've GOT to get my calories under control. It's time I begin journaling.

I'm almost finished with my first 8 week program, but I'm disappointed in myself that I didn't focus my energy on eating better while weight training.

I know everything begins with small steps, but I always seem to get one thing going and then slack on another.

Not anymore because this roll of fat on my abdomen is getting me down. :(

no problem!

i actually eat the tuna from the no-drain packets without adding anything. it took some getting used to at first but now i really like it.

i don't eat butter or syrup on my pancakes - i've never really been able to eat syrup. it's too sweet for me.

diet is the hardest part of the lifestyle to get under control. i still have problems making sure i eat enough but at least now i'm putting quality food in my body.

keep taking small steps and you'll get where you're trying to go. start by not buying things at the grocery store that you know will cause you to slip up. if you don't have it in your house, chances are you won't be eating it. if stay at it, the fat on the abs will go away with time.

You're absolutely right about not buying the stuff or having any in the house for the mere temptation!

Thank you!! I will keep taking those tiny steps because you're some major motivation! Keep up the great work!

let me know if you ever need some motivation to keep sticking to your goals. it can be a long road and sometimes you need the extra encouragement to get over that last hump. i'm always around the boards!
