Acording to mens fitness:
Male cheerleaders aren't pantywaists after all. Researchers at Illinois state Uuiversity tested the fitness levels of a group of NCAA division 1 collegiate cheerleaders. They perfomred 226lb bench press and could perform 40 pushups and 59 sit ups at one time!

sory just thought it was cool to have the words male cheerleader in a fitness magizine that wasn't followed my a snide comment lol

Gay/Weak male Cheerleader is a stereotype of the past I would think....no proof needed andrew...I watched a couple of the competitions on the ESPN and those guys are very strong....anyone who could balance a girl on 1 arm above his head....is a strongman imo...heh

anyone who says to the contrary is perpetuating their own ignorant views and nothing more...

on a sidenote andrew....how did you get involved in cheerleading vs lets say other more popular forms of athletics(football, basketball, etc...you seem like a big guy and would be really successful in those sports)? ( i am just curious)...I remember my friend similarly chose tennis over football in HS at 5'11 and 275, no matter how our football coach pleaded with him...but for now I guess everyone walks to the beat of their own drummer...

Andrew I'm shocked that anyone would still harbor such a ridiculous notion. Male cheerleading is not for the weak and cowardly. I personally cannot imagine the terror you must experience having to be around all those cranky, big-eyed females. Of course I can totally imagine the positive aspects.

lol thanx all tabber it was an article, persoanly I hate push ups.

Actually I did wrestle in jr high, and was 15/2 my 8th grade year.......but i came into highschool as a freshman at about 275lbs.......big but not muscle at all. Anyways, i wanted to play football, ever guys dream to be big bad football player. So I tried out.........only one thing though......I had no clue how to play. SO after about a week, of "conditioning". Teh we got the pads and junk out, and started playing mini scrimmages etc. I was a defensive tackle. I went up to coach and was like" i'm lost coach, i dunno what to do.....my dad wasn't around to teach me about football"Can i get some help?"( mom dad divorsed when in was 4)
He said "hell son just go out there and hit someone" and he walked away. That wa smy last time in pads and in a football uniform.............

So i waited till, wrestling season.......well now I wasn't bigger and stronger than the people I wrestled, so I was thrown aroudn pretty bad. I was called fat ass by my "partner" that wrestled with me. But i had a cyst coem up, on my butt( funny I know) so I had to have surgery, so my wrestling carreer was over. SO now with no sports, my waist got bigger......i wa snow up to a 48in wiast. So i started dieting( atkins) lost a bunch of weight. With my new confidance, I was more adpt to trying somthing new. I was now down to about 220

then at a pep rally i saw, some of the guy cheerleaders doing soem cool stuff. I was like that might be cool. Then I was talking to a girl in one my class who was trying out too, and said to come try out I might be good at it. SO i was like hell why not?

last part..........

So I tried out, and by soem odd chance I made it. Now I had a reason to work out, had to hold the girl up now! So I was in the weight room for 3 years........one year I won the "lift off" of the 240lbs weight class.......benching 250 and cleaning 220.......I was one of only two people who wheren't football players." and when I went to get my trophy, coach said " man wish you was a football player"

My senior year my maxes got up pretty high,a dn agin the football coaches tried egtting me to play football. Concidering I had 1700 total in the weight room for 4 lifts. But I stuck with it...her ei am now in college still cheerleading........and still geting misstaken for a football player when I work out!

that's awesome...I am glad you found something you are good at ...

I was a tiny weakling in high school, in 9th grade I was 5'7/5'8 and 130 ...so I could play any sports except crosscountry/track, and i wasn't even fast so i only did that for a year...I think deep down I wished I was bigger so I could play sports....like basketball or football...

I think this is why I slowly began to lift weights...I think I said to myself if I can't be the biggest, I'll be the strongest...and I am getting there...

Good story Andrew. I have to agree with Menace about the "stereotyping of the past". Respect must be shown to male cheer leaders and male figure skaters.
Yesterday I couldn't beleive my eyes, here was the scene.
A couple were figure skating, and the the girl was sitting in the guys hand extended up over is head (while in motion) eventually he lowered her down and brought his elbow in to the side of his abdomen, and put his fore arm out as if he was going to do a curl, at this point she was able to do a handstand on his fore arm and all the time being in motion. If that is not stregnth, what is! And Andrew, I was thinking of you!

LikeWise, if you didn't read the whole thread or didn't know what I was referring to then don't quote me, otherwise you make both of us look stupid....I wasn't refering to cheerleading itself when I said wussy/perverted....I meant that for answering stupid questions like 'did your hand ever slip' and so forth...

I do not associate male cheerleading with gayness. In fact, I think that I would come much closer to wanting a relationship with a male cheerleader than I would a football player.

Being man enough to stand up and show his school spirit in the face of the stereo type scores much point-age with me.

You stay true to your heterosexual, uniform-wearing, non-spelling, girl-twirling self Andrew and do not worry about what others think.

And Pritchard......honey, why is your picture blue?
