My personal preference is 8-10 weeks training, then a week off. Especially if you train as heavy as you can all the time. The week off gives your tendons and ligaments and nerve endings a rest, let alone your muscles a chance to recouperate. You will go back feeling mentally stronger also. Your first week back, get a feel for the weights, do not start out exactly at the weights you stopped at. And have a differen routine. Oh yeah, and as you said, you will not atrophy in one week. The only reason most people do that is due to the fact that they stop their good nutrition plan. |

A week off won't hurt.. I usually do one every 8-12 weeks.. hey the 12 week mass program even has TWO weeks off at the end (doesn't it?).. I usually find that I come back lifting better then before when I take a week off.. just don't turn the week off into a cheat week for your diet... |

actually I think that would do better in the long run....when I took my jumping program, in the 6th week I was in a platau becaue I kept on over training my muscles, they would't gain.(I did plyomatics and bodyweight training) So they suggested me to take about 1-2 weeks off, which I did. Not only did I give my muscles a rest and felt very motivated on the start up date, but two weeks later I had more gains then I had the previous weeks...:) -------------- Tiffany Der #10 "You have to make it through the rain in order to see the Rainbow........." |

I have cut back on my training to only 3 days a week. I have lost a little strength and hate it, but I will not be able to weight train while at school so I might as well get used to it. Maybe on the weekends I can. Taking a little time off won't hurt. I haven't gained any weight back but I have actually toned up a little more. Maybe my body is happy with the change.-------------- Lisa |

Sorry I didn't get the picture done, but maybe once my husband moves down here he can take another picture. I should have no more fat left once the get done with me here. I have already lost about two pounds and it is only the first week of school and we haven't even started the physical training. We start the part next week. I am going to have a tough time, but I am glad that I got into the weight training stuff because I am in a great deal better shape than a year ago. So far it is very fun, but stressful and very fast moving. We get like 15 minutes for a room of two to get showered and eat breakfast. At lunch, we get about 30 minutes to change uniforms and get something in our stomach. It has been tough. I have averaged about 4 hours sleep each night this week. I am going to love weekends here (study and sleep). I will try to do my best to log on every weekend and read some of the posts. I will keep you updated on my progress.-------------- Lisa |
