Hey all.

I work early afternoon until 9pm every night. I usually eat in the morning, noon, and then again "after" work. with my workout being just before noon. Is eating dinner at 9pm working against me? Some days I eat a dinner at work, others not. It verys. If I do eat at 9pm what types of foods would be best to have for a dinner.
thanks

the closer you eat to bedtime, the more harmful it can be, seeing that you're body is already resting and it is not really burning any of the carbs you are consuming at that time. If it is at all possible, it would be best to maybe eat at work or if you have to eat at night, try a Meal Replacement that is low in carbs, such as a low carb bar or drink or pick foods that are low in carbs. Hope this helps.

If my body thought it was being starved and held the fat.. Would it eventually not have to resort to burning it? Just a thought.

Yes it would. But not until after it has already done some MAJOR feeding on the muscle tissue.

Eat protein before bed.
I tell clients to eat protein at night because your body does most of its rebuilding and regeneration while you sleep - if it doesn't have what it needs through your diet it will take it from your tissues (muscle breakdown).
Just make sure you are getting enough goo carbs throughout the day, with plenty of protein and small amounts of good fat. Five to six small meals will definitely serve your body better than three meals.

Somewhere the notion that your digestive system stops working after a certain time has come to be popular. If you are training hard, your body needs to be fed. There is no "magic witching hour" where your digestion stops and everything is turned to fat.

that is true BB1fit, but notice the words you said, if you are "training hard" some people aren't doing extreme training just general exercising and keeping in shape. So does that apply for them as well?

My meaning is for whatever type of training you are doing, eat to sustain it. If you are training hard, eat to sustain it. If you are just "getting into shape", eat for that. Listen to your body. Stay on your appropriate meal schedule. Remember, your body grows/gains out of the gym, so your nutrition will determine this amount of gain.
