Started pulling sumo style. Max is somewhere around 315 with this style, I'm about a 100lbs stronger conventional.

I figure it'll be good to bring up my sumo DL though...

I think I am gonna switch to a sumo pull...for a while. It doesn't put any pressure on my back....or as much....feels more "natural" to me?

Nice deadlifting Ka. 4 plates!

got 655 a couple weeks back @213 postflu ...set a goal of 725 without hitch by end of the year.

I pull around 425 sumo...could be as high as 455....never gave it an all out effort...

Im still learning, i weight 140 and i deadlift 180 which is my weight + 40lbs. Which sucks IMO but i will keep at it. One day i wish to deadlift 300lbs.

Well my pathetic sumo got to 315*5, so I think I could get 365 for a single, but since I won't be pulling sumo in competition, I'm not planning on testing it.

Going back to straight leg DL's for a few weeks, then I'll rotate regular deadlifts back in. I'd like to hit 425+ conventional.

I've moved up to the 165lb weight class though.

yea wrestler. I am trying to build to 50 reps of 405 within 10 min span....

last time i got 675 for 2 reps...with light hitch on 2nd rep...far from perfect ...then did 405 for 36 reps in 10 min...almost thought I'd get 40 but ran out of time....was a 7 rep improvement over previous attempt....was at 215-217lb....

KA big time congrats. Keep pushing your limits.

Sukaz let me spell it out for you(although the purpose of this thread was stated up front by the OP). This thread was created to get people more involved with deadlifts. It was purposely done in the 'how much you ...' format because it jumps out at most people and gets people competitive(esp since this is in the mens section...and we all know how competitive many guys are). Unlike bench it's almost never done by the majority of gym goers.....which is very sad.

Couple workouts ago I was doing EDT on OHP and deadlifts and I hit 75 singles on deadlifts with 405 in a span of about 2.5 hours. One of these days I will try for 100. Definitely makes you walk funny afterards. lol....

drquack I am trying out volume based training like EDT for a little bit with deadlifts...as well as with squats and OHP...a big change from my usual low volume/high intensity training...

It sucks at my age 38 and with permanent lumbar damage (Very Bulging Disc) put it this way my bench is stronger then my Squat be we are working on my hips for that.

As for the Deadlift it's been 4 months or 5 now that I have been doing them and at 135 made my hips roll out but I got 295 up my last cycle and I got it up clean.

It's pretty sad how an injury can weaken a person but I must say since you guys got me hooked on Squats and the Dead my issues keep getting less and less troublesome.

I may never be the guy to watch in the rack or on the floor but doing something is better then not doing anything at all!

By the way I correct the hip swing by strength and by repositioning my arm placement, left hip swung so right arm gets moved to towards the center of the bar until you get a balance in your lift!

The reason I started pulling sumo was because it was easier for me to keep my back strait and I felt more comfortable with it. I am only 5'8...not exactly tall. I stayed with it because for a while I had pretty weak hamstrings and felt that sumo pulls were a very effective solution. Now I pull sumo because I squat with a pretty wide stance and feel that the two feed each other pretty effectively. I kind of want to try maxing out on conventional one day. The most I ever picked up conventional was 225.

I know this isn't big to a lot of you, but it is to me. I have had issues with DL's due to not being able to use chalk at my gym and the wl gloves were causing the bar to slip so I couldn't get past 100 lbs for the life of me. Well, I tried a new way of holding my hands once again today, they were uncomfortable the last few times I had tried, one over, one under and I was able to hit 120lbs! I was stoked, it is going to still take a little adjusting to feel totally comfortable with this grip, but it has been the only one that has been able to help me move up in weight thus far.

So yes, The Bettia is very proud of herself. :) :dumbbell:
