Hello
My name is Jonathan.
I'm about 7 weeks into the program and I've only lost 1 lbs. I've followed the routine to perfections and while my chest looks alittle better I'm not really getting slimmer. My diet isnt bad I usually eat oatmeal in the morning and I dont go to crazy during the day. I do sit at my job all day so maybe that has something to do with it? I've been doing both weight lifting and cardio so is this normal? I weigh 220 I started at 221.

You need to cut your calories a little bit more then. Cut 250 or so and see if that picks up the weight loss.

How many calories are you eating per day by the way?

Initially your weight may go up (muscle versus fat) gauge your progess by your measurements, not the scale.

I'm eating about 1900 calories a day give or take a few. I'm 6 foot tall. I would hate to cut calories more should I just eat tuna for like a week to get things kicking? My waist size has stayed at 39 inches so i'm not seeing that going down at all. Only progress I'm seeing is in my chest.

Could be that 1900 calories a day is too low for you. I am 5'2 and 120 and I eat between 1900 and 2100 calories per day....you may be putting your body into survival mode with that low calorie intake

Define the following better. When most people say they 'eat healthy,' they typically aren't.

OK
A typical day is I wake up to eating oatmeal and a protein shake after working out first thing in the AM. I usually snack on peanuts or a banana in between breakfast and lunch. Lunch can vary tuna, chicken, cheeseburger. Dinner is usually chicken, steaks etc...

What about veggies? And you should probably be eating closer to 2900 calories. Eat 6 small meals instead of 3 meals and 3 snacks...that might help...

Turf the V8... loads of sodium... if you can, switch to real veggies...

Hey I just looked at your profile, and it says you want to gain mass? This isn't going to be possible at 1900 calories per day. Restricted calorie diets are for losing weight, and typically don't yeild any great gains in mass. Maybe you're lifting heavy with lower reps and eating a lower calorie diet? Anyway I'd say take a look at your routine(maybe switch to a lower weight/higher rep range if thats the case) and also make sure that you are really challenging yourself. Each set you do, should be very difficult to complete the last few repetitions. Try eating a couple hundred more calories a day as well. And if you're gonna do a shake, just do it post workout, and get the rest of your daily calories from healthy food.

It seems as though you might be mixing goals. If you are looking for improvements in your muscles while trying to diet then you may be setting yourself up for failure. Pick a well defined goal and a time table and set to accomplish it. Either aim to gain or aim to lose, but not both at the same time.

I personally like V8. It is loaded with sodium, but sodium gets a bad rap. If anything, sodium is underrated FOR PHYSICALLY ACTIVE INDIVIDUALS. I emphasize the physically active part because individuals exercising regularly will need a good deal of sodium, while less is generally better for a couch potato. This is a topic in itself though, and we could discuss it separately, but if not, my advice is that v8 is better than nothing.

I'm sorry my profile is old I signed up on here years ago and once I reached my goals I havent used it in years but yea before I was real skinny was looking to gain mass but 5 years later Im looking to lean out. I've been following the program on where I do more reps with the same amount of weight and usually at a weight where I cant do all the reps. I'll just research more into my diet I think my workout is fine I can see improvements like my face thinning out and my chest and arms are looking good its really my stomach and legs that seem to be really packing on the fat. While researching before they say once you hit 26-27 it gets harder to loose weight so does anyone have any suggestions on how my diet should look with my type of work out?

Thanks for all the help

The research that showed metabolism slowing was done on sedentary individuals, physically active individuals have been shown to maintain baseline metabolic rates for much longer than mid-20's.

I have been working out for two years now. I do weights, cario, watch what I eat, all of it. I do these things daily. I can't seem to get where I want. I don't need to lose weight, I am ' and 107lbs. I just want a defined and toned body. How can I intensify this to get what I want?
