I've been reading a lot of posts lately with people mentioning that they are doing hack squats. I do barbell squats or some variation of for the most part.

What are the pros and cons of doing hack squats compared to regular squats (other than variety)?

Hack Squat are those machince in the gym, either pin placed weight or plates you ad on like barbell squats.

Pros and cons hummm well the barbell squat is the better of them because you get work on the stablizer muscle and such but the hack came in handy for the injured like me or the people that can't do regular squats for a reason or another!

I can almost careless if I ever get in the squat cage because I love the hacks and I work stablizers with lunges but I know in time I'll hit the cage!

Personally at my age I feel it's best to use wants best on your body and I can careless what people say, it's my body I have to live with it!

I can't do leg presses either on the angles presses and when I did it did hit my legs like the hack squats to or lunges do but again some people can't lunge or squat or hack because of injuries or what not!

Some people will say you can get hurt easier on hacks then barbell but I call bull on that and big bull, hacks are way safer!

hack squats, which are done with a barbell(the machine versions are utter crap) placed behind you as you'd do a deadlift....it emphasizes quads....

hacks are done without the need for cage/squat rack....no need for a spotter....

To really isolate your quads you have to push the weight while staying back on your heels - don't lean forward. Hack squats will feel strange at first but you'll get used to them quickly. Keep the weight on the bar rather light at first, then experiment with heavier weight as you feel more comfortable with the movement.

Yeah me too bro, I won't do regular barbell squats because of a bulging disc in lower back but these look like I can mix up with machine hacks!
