So you're not doing something right, so you think it would be a good idea to just find a replacement exercise that's easier to do...?-------------- SQUAT MORE ~Jesse Marunde Mortal by birth. Strongman by the grace of god. Blood Guts Sweat Chalk |

if you have access to an incline bench try laying on your stomach and doing them there or do a barbell row with or without the bench. I find that I isolate my back better useing the bench.
Wrestler you really need to work on your people skills. There was no need to be rude. |

Dumbell rows rock man, if you're feeling it in your bi's it's in how you're pulling. My favorite way is unsupported, just drop the dumbell 'neath your feet, widen your stance, grab it, and row it up, at most support your opposite side by resting your hand or forearm across your knee.
Try to tuck the elbow as much as you can when you're rowing, with enough angle to your back so that when your arm is hanging at the start of the row the dumbell is ALMOST touching the ground. If it really yanks on your bi/arm lower the weight until it's comfortable, but it will always involve the arm at least a little. This is a great exercise for your entire back, I've found. -------------- This is SPARTA!!! |

I like db rows, too. I prefer doing them one side at a time, either standing with the non-working hand on your thigh, body bent at hips to a little less than 90 degrees, or one hand and knee on the bench, working side leg on the floor. Start the dumbbell a little forward and begin the pulling motion by pulling your shoulder blade towards your spine. Let your arm be the link between back muscles and dumbbell, not the primary mover. Think about starting a lawn mower - same motion. Keep your elbow tucked in close - so it grazes your ribcage on the way past and aim the db to end up at your waist, on the side. Work with light weight until you get the mind-muscle connection.-------------- Permanence, perseverance and persistence in spite of all obstacles, discouragements, and impossibilities: It is this, that in all things distinguishes the strong soul from the weak. Eh, he's a young pup, still full of p*ss and vinegar, tact will come with age. But he's also one of the most knowledgable people I've ever seen on these subjects, he's certainly one guy to whom the poster should listen, even if it's tough to hear, lol.

I don't think anyone ever said weight training was easy.-------------- I see the words you are typing, but all I read is *click*click*click* \"He may be gone, but Sanjaya proved that it doesn\'t matter how talented you are - if you believe in yourself, you can annoy literally millions of people.\" Jimmy Kimmel |

Oh I agree that he is knowledgeable for his age, BUT he didnt give any suggestions. He simply was rude to the guy. I know several people whom he has offended and almost run off from this board. Straight forward answers are GREAT, but being condescending is something totally different. This board is for support not to insult the people asking questions.-------------- Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. I'm not sure what was rude about it. The poster made a comment, and I asked a question that should cause said individual to reevaluate what he is thinking. If you can't take anything out of that, then I'm sorry, but I'm not the type to spoon feed.
Straight forward answers are TERRIBLE. Getting people to think for themselves is great. -------------- SQUAT MORE ~Jesse Marunde Mortal by birth. Strongman by the grace of god. Blood Guts Sweat Chalk |
