What do you guys eat during the cutting phase of your diet? I have to get all the sodium out, somehow. I'm starting in a couple days to gear up for a vacation next Friday, so I want to cut as much as I can.

So, are you cutting for just a week?

Yup, do you normally cut for longer? I don't want to starve myself of sodium for too long.

Cutting is all about correct caloric intake for a period of time to sustain muscle and burn fat.

One week will make no difference.

So what do you guys do in the days leading up to an event? Assuming you've been in competitions. You don't do anything to get that extra bit of water weight off, or to get the skin that extra little bit thinner and tighter to the muscles?

Yes, but that comes late in the game, the last 3 days before a show. Before that it is all about what I posted above.

Yeah, that's the kind I'm talking about. What do you normally eat during those 3 days? Am I on the right track with expelling as much sodium? Or what else should I be watching?

I know athletes trying to make weight do cut out salt, and start to cut liquid intake as well. However, I recommend you find out exactly how they do this, as doing it wrong could be counter productive, especially in regards to limiting liquids.

Sorry can't be of more help.

A diet like that will do you no good. 3 days is not sufficient to do anything, as well as a week.

Cutting properly takes waaaaayyyy more time. If it was that easy, everyone would get cut whenever they felt like it!

So there's nothing you do in the 3 days leading up to a comp, bb1fit? I'm not talking about my diet in general, again, just the extra little things to get that boost. I recognize that a proper diet takes time and if there is nothing that the pros do to gear up for a comp then I accept that, but I'm doubting that's the case. If what ever measures, if any, do not end up helping me in the end, I accept that as well, but at least I'll know for next time.

I'm sorry for being a bother, but I guess I wasn't expecting such short answers. Is there something that I'm completely missing? I'm not trying to be sarcastic, merely inquisitive. Thanks guys.

I think what he's trying to say is that what he does the last 3 days is pointless without what has already been done over the previous few months.

That being said, assuming that you haven't been doing that over the past few months, why would that do you any good at all?

This isn't what you want to hear, but this sort of stuff takes time and lots of it. If it was easy to just trim and make your skin tighter in 3 days why wouldn't everyone be doing it. The reason that you don't see more cut/skinny people is that most of them don't have the patience and determination to do it, of just haven't been doing it long enough to get there yet.

No problem, a simple google search came up with a lot of info. There is also a competition guide in the fitness resources section here, i think, at the top of the screen, but I haven't looked to see how much it gets into the pre-comp week diet.
