I am already starting to think to the future after little Paul gets here, and get myself amped up to lose at least 20lbs in the short term. I was just wondering though, how on average that measures out to drops in clothing size? I am in between a 20/22 right now(pregnant belly aside) and I have this huge box of really nice 18's that I would love to be into by spring/summer. Would losing the 20lbs get me into those, or would I need to shoot higher, like 25-30lbs?
And I know, this is on average, everyones body changes at different rates, I'm just trying to get an idea. TIA!! :)

for me it's about 10lbs a size...like from 7/8 to 9/10 I would need to lose about 10 pounds...but it depends on the clothes too...I can wear a 4 in nautica at 135 lbs....but thats an 6-8 in anything else...and an 9 or 11 in juniors.So the sizes vary alot...but I say about 10 pounds..or 5 lbs a dress size maybe.

Isn't it funny how weights/sizes are so different for people? At my highest weight(haven't yet gotten back there with the baby) I was in a straight 22, and I weighed 265. No one ever believed me when I told them how much I weighed. Same thing at my smallest, in a 12/14 I weighed in between 175 and 190.
Thats why I'm trying to get an average idea, cause I know everyone's different, but it's nice to have a little bit of a guideline.

I think height has alot to do with it....I have a friend who is maybe 5'2,and she wears an eight...but her hips are bigger around than mine.......I hate to go shopping with her...she likes to tell me all about her size 8...I want to tell her yeah...but your butts bigger than mine so who cares...my husband says that isn't very nice though...

Yeah, I'm a shorty too....5'4. I like being short though. I'm thinking that if I lost 25-30 I might even get into some of my 16 stuff....ewww gotta work it after little mister gets here!

Are you breast feeding???It comes off pretty easy. When I was pregnant I used to put my old jeans on...they only went to my knees...literally...I would put on boots and look at myself from the knee down and couldn't wait to get back in them again...until my husband came home and found me prancing around in front of the mirror with my pants around mt knees...he looked concerned for my mental well being..so I gave it up...that last month is the hardest...once you get that first labor pain though...you know you can wait a little longer to get in your old clothes:big_smile:

I'm planning on breastfeeding for as long as I can. I know it's supposed to help with the weight loss, but I'm not gonna be one of those moms who rely's solely on bf-ing to get back in shape lol. Gonna have to bust out some of my workout tapes!

I did both of mine for 6 weeks...on the nose...I wasn't a big breast feeding fan myself...but I did lose a good amount of weight in that 6 weeks...close to 30 lbs.

Oh, geeze. maybe it was because of my headache... Ahh, I needed a laugh, thanks.

Or I could let you in on my secret - when I am really busy I have Big Andrew sign in under my name and answer posts. (I hope if he reads this he has a good sense of humor...):)

*I think in general it is 10 lbs a size.

10lbs sounds right until you get pass a size 12 then I think it moves up to more

I'm judging this on patterns - yea I sew - the differents is almost double on the width usually going form a size 8 to a size 10 is an inch around but going from a size 14 to a size 16 is almost 2 inches - I think men have it easier waist is x & inseam is y - why can't they do ladies that way??

something I could never figure out is why does bigger in the width mean taller too?? so the smaller you are the shorter the clothes

I agree with the 10lb/size....but why is it that no matter what I gain or loose, I'm always between sizes...everything is always a bit big or a bit small...very frustrating!

Are you wearing odd or even sizes? odd sizes are cut straight for hipless boy figures and even sizes are cut fuller with more hip and caboose area, go figure. I could wear an 8 but not get comfortable in a 9...
