A profile is the only way any of us here can know to whom we are speaking. The answer we may give to a 13 year old would be really different from one we'd give to a 25 year old man. I have pretty much stopped responding to new folks without a profile. What's the point. It's a complete shot in the dark. I really cringe when I see somebody without a profile answer a question. They are almost always wrong.
Your profile tells us about your experience level. A beginning lifter works out in an entirely manner than an advanced lifter. Needed supplements are very different from beginning to advanced level. Your profiles tell those who are here to help you that you're serious. I guess gender matters too. Boys and girls are different. Not politically correct, but true anyway. Just take a minute and fill out your profile. Join the community. You'll get much more out of it if you do.

I disagree. sometimes, even if that person does not come back for an answer, the discussion that these posts sometimes provac can teach us all something. Yes, it is annoying, but I know that I for one have learned a thing or two from these types of posts.-------------- The best feeling in the world is the feeling you get after a tough set of squats after you step back from the power rack and throw up all over the floor. |

I filled out my profile and updated it 2x, but my posts still display that I have no profile and my gender is not shown, either. I'm sure that is not always the case with those whose profiles aren't shown, and maybe it will get better when I upgrade. I've only made a few posts, and some of those aren't even posted properly, but I hope I have not upset anyone!

thankyou for your contribution, mrmoose63.

We ask for the profile cause as charlie said the answer depends on your level of training among other factors. A 300 lb man with high BP, diabetes etc is not going to get be able to do the same thng as a man that is 200 and has been training for years. That is why, and as for the lazy part when you have as many great posts and have helped out as many as charlie asimmer and the rest of us, then and only thne can you object to what we say.-------------- Less Talk, More Chalk! 7707mutt@freetrainers.com |

I haven't noticed you burning up the boards answering questions there Mr Moose but I did notice you filled out your profile. Nice touch. If I have given "shit info " you need to tell me where. I can promise you that you won't find the majority of mine or asimmer's responses involve fit buddy.
Lazy??? All of the regular responders here have full time jobs, family responsibilities, lives to live and still find time to work out and answer questions on this board. I don't know of anybody being paid for helping. We just enjoy it and like seeing folks get results for their hard work. You must be having a bad day but thanks for reading the post and filling out your profile. ============ Quoting from mrmoose63: who cares about their profile... just answer their question..if you need more info ask em...if you're too lazy to ask em..you're probably too lazy to answer the question in an appropriate manner and should abstain for giving shit info anyways.. asimmer..most people don't come back here...because other boards people will answer your question quickly..not in a week or two, or bitch you out to use a fitday search or fill out your profile ============= -------------- Sometimes life is like herding cats. Charlie and Assimer, I greatly appreciate the time and effort that you guys have put in to help the rest of us. So, even if you take the time to answer a question for someone who never comes back, keep in mind that it is probably information the rest of us can use. There have been many times that I have browsed the threads before posting and and found my answer. To wrestler125's point, if your answer keeps a thread going, we all benefit! Thanks for your involvement! You guys ROCK!-------------- Happy trails, Mike Young "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit." — Aristotle |

funny i don't even see moose's post...guess it got deleted...
It's essential to know who u are helping....age....weight/height...gender....lifting experience...health concerns.... goals....objectives....reasons for lifting/exercising...type of a current diet...daily sleep....time set aside for fitness.....etc....each of these factors can completely alter the response... although moose made a point from one of the quotes that we can ask for additional info...he missed a key point...if he/another person already is impatient waiting for a response...then this will only delay the needed advice....so why no speed things up and be sure that the advice is appropriate for you.....

I have to agree with wrestler. I'm one of those people who has been around for over a year, and only have a handful of posts. That's BECAUSE the veterans are so helpful, and BECAUSE there are so many topics discussed and resolved. I rarely have a question I can't find an answer to just by searching.
So you veterans (bb, charlie, princess, carivan, ...), please don't think you're just having a small group discussion. The rest of us are paying attention, and benefiting greatly from your posts. I agree. And I love seeing the pics so I know who says what. I also enjoy seeing the before after pcs. Lots of motivation to that. But whats really great info for me is seeing the excercise workout and eating plans. I really benefit from that. Now I better go check my profile out...UPDATE TIME

i couldnt get my profile to take either so i put it in my signature. i really like reading the posts on this sight because you more experiences people set eachother straight and you can get alot good info here. if there is one thing in this life i learned its listen more than you speak and you get ahead quicker-------------- a river runs thru it.... from off the beaten path... i couldn\'t get my profile to take either so here it is im 38 year old white male 171 lbs and i live in south carolina. recently divorced i enjoy hunting, fishing and hiking and most important i\'m staight not that theres anthing wrong with it if your not and you use the girl locker room. |

Ym...since this is not a dating site, there's no need to post your sexual preferences to begin with...and I don't know what planet you're from but just because people are gay doesn't mean they use opposite bathrooms....this is some old-fashioned...borderline bigotted thinking....

i said "not that there is anything wrong with it" also if you look at the posts on this site there are many posts where people state there sexual pref. i just stated it so people would know a little bit about who i am. i havnt made that many posts but i haven't said anything to imply that this is a dating site. I'm not a biggot i have friends who are gay and just because i think they should have their own shower room doesnt make me a biggot. Its just my opinion and in such you can take it or leave it.
i know its not a reality that gyms are going to have 4 shower rooms and because of this i dont expect someone not to go the gym because they cant shower but i think its the same as if a straight male used the female locker room. the sole purpose of having seperate bathrooms for men and women is so they feel comfortable in a locker room where they dont feel like someone is checking them out. am i wrong? just the same i took the comment off. -------------- a river runs thru it.... from off the beaten path... i couldn\\\'t get my profile to take either so here it is im 38 year old white male 171 lbs,5\\'11\\" and i live in south carolina. recently divorced i enjoy hunting, fishing and hiking |

Point taken....I am from San Francisco, and people get offended more easily here about such sensitive issues....what you said just came off borderline insulting ....so I pointed that out....I am not trying to make a value judgement about you ...only about the comments that were made....the comments are off.....the issue is closed.....welcome to freetrainers
Also as I said before, guys leering at women in the gym is the same issue as gay guys leering at other guys in the locker rooms....they are idiots but not a generalization....I have known and been friends through school and work with plenty of gay people and I would have no problem using same locker room as them because I know they are good people and we respect one another...

Okey doke, well isn't this special. This post has lost it's use here so I'll tell a story and request that a mod let it drift out to sea.
A cowboy gets off his horse and ties up at the hitchin post in front of the saloon. He goes around to the back of his horse, lifts its tail, and kisses the horse dead center. As he's walking into the saloon, a guy asks him "How come you done kissed your horses ass just now?" The cowboy replies "My lips is chapped." Guy says "And that cures 'em???" Cowboy says "No, but it damn sure keeps me from lickin 'em." -------------- Sometimes life is like herding cats. Charlie
