Ok been a while since I did this. I started the South Beach Diet in Jan. Since then I show a scale weight of 308 down from 315. I know it says only a 7 lbs loss. I have lost a good amount of fat from my back and sides and inner thighs. Also I know have more visible veins on my arms, infact wed night as I was doing arnold presses I was getting the 60lb DB up to do my last set and the vein that runs down the middle of the bicep popped up to say hi! I have never seen this even when I was at 240. I also have noticed thta all my pants fit looser and my shirts fit "flatter" over my stomach. My wife even commented that my back was more cut and lovehandles are noticable lower. SO I think I am losing body fat and building muscle as I had hoped. I am doing 2-3 cardio sessions a week as well. Now I am not toaly strict on this diet I cheat. Just not every week. I eat a lot of salads with half from mixed lettuce (salad in a bag) and half from spinach. I also increased my protein by about 50 grams. I used to get about 100g a day not nearly enough. I am now closer to 150-200 aday. So I hope this trend continues. Side Note: My wife is in the process of getting the gastic bypass, as both the doctor and I agree that this is the only way for her to lose the weight. The benefit to me is that after it she will not be able to eat the junk food. So wish us luck.

Well she has a condition that cause her insulin to do funny things called PCOS. Those women with it tend to gain and keep weight. ALso if she eats most veggies she throws up..so Low carb and most all diets are out. Her knees have a genetic defect where the ligament and tendons are not tracked right and she has no cartlage in her knees so her bones rub together and her knee cap floats. Plus she broke her elbow when she was young and since then when she worksout it hurts and becomes inflamed. Now she still is more active than most 150lb women. But if she lost the weight her knees would not hurt as bad and I know this is the only way she will do it. She can still workout but is limited to what shw can do.

Great news, Mutt. You should call it "The MuttDate." I have a friend who had that same surgery. He lost a couple of Backstreet Boys in weight. I wish your wife well.
-------------- I ran outta gas. I had a flat tire. I didn't have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn't come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from outta town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake, a terrible flood, locusts. It wasn't my fault!! I swear to God!!
