My tummy is slimming down nicely, but my lovely stretch marks (dang those kids) and somewhat saggy pooch is looking none to attractive. Will it eventually tighten up with continued resistance training and fat loss or am I destined to wear a one piece bathing suit the rest of my life? :(

yes as long as you lose the weight slowly...the areas should tighten up....just keep focusing on your nutrition...by eating healthy foods and cutting calories slowly...(100-300).....also continue with your weight training and cardio.....both should help you 'tighten' your midsection....

I know all about stretch marks...try applying cocoa butter cream....or some over the counter medications that helpw ith scars/stretch marks but those are more expensive and need to be applied several times a day for up to 6 months before vissible changes.....

It can take up to a year for skin to tighten up, if it doesn't seem to be tightening after a good few months, see a plastic surgeon and have them evaluate the elasticity of your skin (which is, in a large part, genetic).

SOme people can have huge weight fluctautions and never have any loose skin, whie others can lose ten pounds and have a pooch, it isn't fair....

I did think that firming lotions helped a little when i lost all of my weight. i used the cheaper ones, like St Ives and jergens and felt they were beneficial.

Good to know there is still hope. I'm off to Cancun in a couple of weeks, so I'm a little over sensitive about my midsection. I guess I'll just wait until my next trip South to pull out the Bikini--It'll give me some further insentive. So far my wieght loss has been slow and steady, so I guess I just have to keep plugging along (and go and purchase some firming lotion!:)

Thanks for the feedback...Every little bit of motivation helps!

I was thinking of trying a body wrap to see if that would help mine. I had found a recipe for one to do at home (claimed to be messy) Has anyone try those??

In the meantime you can buy one of those tummy control type bikini's if you really want to show off what you've been working hard for and not wait until next time, just a thought. Congrats on the losing weight progress and good luck with al your goals!!

or, you could get a tankini...a little tummy flash, but not the whole thing until you think your tummy is ready. Also, I am with menace on the cocoa butter. That stuff is the absolute best for stretch marks.

flyonthewall...you're going on vacation so enjoy yourself...you have achieved great gains(losses) and should be proud to show it off...forget about 'what others will think'....because who trully gives a rat's behind about that...

Good point menace! I think half the battle is always self confidence. I'll put on that bikini along with some 30spf on my white belly--been a long time since it's seen the sun. It's not like I'm going to compete with the spring breakers, I'm just in for the R&R! I'm off to buy a tub of cocoa butter(hmmm, can I get it with SPF???).

Keep working out and eating clean, it is about fat loss, not how you work certain areas.
Lower abdominals are the same muscle you use during crunches , you may feel them more with reverse curl type movement, but you are really working the same muscle.

I am new to this site so happy to hear that I am not alone in the battle. I so understand about the mid section issue. Ever since I had my kids I have had to deal with the loose skin that does not want to tighten up. I have not wore a bikini in years. My stretch marks were purple then turned white, but they were deep stretch marks. I am thinking that may be part of the issue. I was very huge during my pregnancies as well mostly all belly..

Lie on your back and lift both legs almost 90 degrees.  You can either put your arms straight out to the sides with palms down, or you can put them under your butt.  Easy but definitely targets lower abs.
