I have been pretty skinny my whole life. I have been working out for about 6 weeks andthe last 2 of those weeks I have been using creatine and began my freetrainers program.

I am gonna try not to look at myself in the mirror for 2 weeks so i can see if I have made any progress. Anyone ever try this? This is much harder then you think. I will look in the mirror to get dressed, but never without my shirt. give it a shot...

God... I can't help but look in the mirror... it's directly in front of the shower every morning when I step out....!

I find it good for a laugh...

mirrors are strategically placed so that we are forced to look at them. They always seem to be in the places where you would be shirtless.

you could put a blanket over it - but do get a small mirror for make-up or shaving.

I have floor lenth mirrors in two bedrooms & the living room. I love decorating with mirrors - they seem to open up a room. Now my sister who is over 300 - avoids using mirrors & has told me that I should use less of them - she only has mirrors that will show her face. I have notice that it is common that people who don't want to see themselfs don't get mirros

The theory is sound behind it.. how much people change when you haven't seen them in some time..

Will take some serious self-control though to not look.. I'd have to cover them, but in the gym??? Couldn't do it!

nightvision - Back in 79 when I was 20 years old I was 6'0
tall and 135 pounds. I barely made it past my Army
physical. Many years later and having been in the military
the whole time I can tell you that exercise MAY not be the
only thing that grows you. Yes, I did delve into weights
for extended periods of time over the past 25 years, and
when I followed proven regimens I made some progress. Need-
less to say I've had to do regular exercise even when I
wasn't lifting as this is a part of daily Army life. So what
other than exercise and weights made me bigger? Time. I
simply took longer than most guys to fill out. And even
when I did it was never going to get me beyond 160 or so.
The constant training did help me proportion my size better
than perhaps nature would have. The weights, as you can
probably guess, have been the real difference maker. Still,
if you have a slim frame no amount of lifting is going to
change that. The heaviest I've been able to get while still
considering myself in top shape has been about 190. That
was back in 98 when I was stuck in Honduras for six months.
All I did was work, lift, eat, drink creatin, (only time I
ever did creatine), and sleep. I saved mention of creatine
for last for a reason. First, it works. But, ya gotta make
sure your intake isn't more than your activity level calls
for. I'm pretty sure I took in too much. I did grow
faster than ever before on creatine. But, I gained some
fat in the process, which for me was just unheard of.
And I gained it where guys always get it, around the mid
section. Word to the wise - slim framed guys do not look
good with extra flesh around the mid-section. I went from a
32 waist to a 34 inch waist in just six months. I stopped
the creatine when I came back to the states but I've been
battling with my mid section since. Some folks here might
try to explain away my experience. I'm just advising you
take care with the creatine. Oh, and the mirror. Every
six weeks is more realistic.

hey treadhead,
thanks for the words of wisdom and experience. unfortunately what you are saying is hitting home all to well. i am noticing my gut get bigger even though I work it extremely hard. I was thinking this is a normal side effect of trying to bulk up. I know I will never be as thick as I would like, but my goal is to add on some decent mass and then lean it out and hopefully loose the gut. i will take your advice very seriously.

As for the mirror, I couldnt do it. I only lasted 2 days. Quitting smoking was easier. I smoked for 10 years and quit for 4 years and i could only stay away from the mirror for 2 days. pathetic

nightvision - I should mention that I worked my abs as hard as the rest of my body during my time in Honduras. I think what compounded my increase in waist size, beyond the fat, was some muscle growth. Which, of course, since I was getting fat where I'd never had any before, just gave me a stronger stomach under a layer of fat. Like I said, it aint much fat, but I'm slim so it looks very out of place.
