workout started good 20 min cardio then back workout lats pretty good i think 20@90 (warm feeling all over shoulders)15@105 feel tightness in ribs, lats warmer,12@90 molten lava pumping through back muscles.10@100 had encouragment but finally got last four.feels great now but i'll see tomorrow.then i go to do single arm rows with dumb bells.this is where i almost lost it but remembered all the commits on gym edicate.a larger fellow comes up to me laughing and pokes two fingers in my chest"Those are my dumb bells little punk and you are messing up my work out route timing:angry:" now what should i do here ?......instinct slam my thick celtic skull into the bridge of his nose and keep working out:cool:. but what is the proper thing to do ?........how would say Mutt,MMaibohm,Rev8ball,Jdelts,Saxman,or even any of the others handle this?.....i just finished my set and let the baby have his dumb bells waited patiently after letting the meat head know i will also be using the GYM's dumbells.anyway right arm rows 20@45 (not easy but not hard and i'm a little ticked)15@35 (burning in arm)12@45( seems easier but loud mouth still running it top speed )10@60 hard but better than slamming it in guys face)left arm (was rotating right arm left arm in sets 20/20 15/15 etc.) 20@30 ,15@25 ,12@30,10@35 needed spot on last three but i got them .then i notice loud mouth saying that he can only curl 60 one armed so having enough i forced my self to do a PERSONNAL BEST 1 time 70lb. hammer curl with my right arm(it might have taken me what felt like 5 mins to doit but in the end i winked and smiled at him and walked away massaging my arm.i have never tried to pick up any dumbell weighing more than 50lbs.before this guy got me warm under my collar.of course the gym manager/trainer checked ou tmy arm no damage done except probally won't left much tommorrow. now how would you guys handled him?-------------- Dave "lost viking seeking Valhalla" |

I think that was a very dignified way to show him what your made of. I know that you could have easily snaped his neck and then dead lifted his dead body into the trash but well done. Way to show him up. You most likey wont be able to straiten your arm out tomorrow but at least he prob wont give you any more crap. lol that gets my vote of :dumbbell::dumbbell::dumbbell::dumbbell::dumbbell::dumbbell::dumbbell::dumbbell::dumbbell::dumbbell: dumbells

What an A$$. His dumbbells? Who the F### does he think he is? I would finish my set at a leisurley pace and then tell management that they have people harassing their members in the weight room. If he gets physical, even just poking you in the chest, they should have him escorted out. If it continues, he should have his memeberaship revoked.
Don't injure yourself trying to show someone up (though it is always tempting). It isn;t worth the recovery time. Just make a mental note to never be that guy and help out people who are new to the gym. If you do say anything to him, such as "You don't own the dumbbells" my guess is that you will get a standing ovation - this jerk has probably done the same thing to many a new member. I kicked a skinhead jerk in the balls in a pub in NYC and got a standing ovation while he cringed his way out the door (it takes a lot to get me to that point, but he was grabbing girls' bodyparts and just generally being an a$$. maybe I should keep those stories to myself now that I am a moderator, eh? I don't know, don't get me wrong violence isn't the solution, but sometimes it is all the meatheads understand. Most bullies run from the first person who actually gives them a fight. -------------- "To be able to go to the gym and train hard is a joy and a privelege, even though the hard work necessitates driving yourself through considerable discomfort. as security in clubs harrassing women earns guys one way trips out usually in non flattering ways to their egos.i was rasied with strict southern values.grabbing women sets me off faster than top fuel draggsters.but my arm feels good this morning a friend of mine is a trainer and she did some wonder massages on me last night.but i spoke to a employee at the gym seems this guy floats around gym to gym and even tries this at the beach.guess he gets off intimadating people.little does he know i'm too old and experinced to be affarid of any human being.whats the worst that happens he'd kick my butt today and i hunt him down tommorrow?it's all just male primal ego bull s***. but thanks for the advice asimmer and good for you in the nyc club-------------- Dave "lost viking seeking Valhalla" |

Agree with Muttersnapper here. Finish your thing, pound him to dust in your head and let it go.

I am glad the buffalo is popular. Most folk here just wanna eat him. This is the story of the buffalo for you newer guys.
Last year Elaine and I drove across country from NC to San Fransisco. In Yellowstone, this big ass buffalo took exception to the way our car looked when we stopped for a picture. Well we were happy to be in a big gas guzzling American V8 because he would have caught us in the Honda. -------------- Some times life is like herding cats. Charlie | |

The guy is probably trying to make up for what he lacks in self-confidence. The best revenge is to let him be miserable and unsatisfied with his life while grow to be a monster!:dumbbell::dumbbell::dumbbell::dumbbell: F*@k Meat-heads!-------------- May the lift be with you. |

You could always have accidently dropped the dumbell on his toe when he poked you in the chest.
Actually as Mutt & Charlie said, just finish up and leave him to himself...and as Asimmer suggests make a note never to be the same and offer others some compassion. |

Just a suggestion but since people are kicked out of the gym for harrassing women, tell mgmt that he made an advance on you in the locker room and in the weight room. That way he will be removed from the gym and no one will ever look at him the same after that. Just a thought

Good show my tattoo cladden friend. My roommate in college was poking fun at me during leg presses last week (if you remember my post under gym ettiquette). It made for one HELL of a workout after i just put the anger into the rest of my sets. Keep up the good work.
PS - do you know any tattoo artists up in boston? :) just wondering hehe...ive been looking for a good artist to go to up here. I dont want to have to wait to go home back to texas in may, but i will if that means the quality that i want. |
