I think most would agree that there is a strobelight effect in what we do only occasionally...you see a kid ever two years or so and it seems like she's grown SO much...see the same kid everyday and you don't really notice.

Same with your body in the gym, unless you are taking new photos every week or two and comparing them endlessly. You won't really notice, not as much as you should anyway, but there are signs...here's a few that caught me off guard...

1. Was laying in the tanning bed about a week ago and laying on my side and noticed a most peculiar thing; the side of my knee could not physically touch the bed. !!WHAT?!! My calves and quads had grown so much that the knee physically could not touch the bed. Nice :D

2. Guy at my gym asked me to spot him. First time. I used to be the amatuer, the newbie, the "He'll quit soon," club. Not now...they think I know what I'm doing. This guy was huge and just assumed I was used to spotting. This was a nice compliment to me.

3. My trainer told me that people don't normally grow as fast as me, and he couldn't compare me to other's he'd trained...his words were, "Somehow you've assimilated at a speed I haven't seen before." Hoorah.

4. An elderly lady stopped me in the hall and said that she could not bend down far enough on the ab machine to move the peg from where I had it (maxed 259 lbs) much less lift the weight. "How do you do that?," she asked. Of course I'm a tiny bit modest and told her I do low reps, high weights but it still felt good.

5. I'm doing my bathroom reading, ahem, and I like a few popular ones like Flex, Men's Health, and Muscle Fitness, and I take a look at last month's Men's Health cover model and I think objectively to myself, "I'm about there." That's insignificant to me until I compare it to my thought last year, same time: "I'll never be close." As far as the FLex guys, well, they just mammoths, but they better watch out...

6. Little teeny boppers (and I'm 30) are going, "Look he's hot." If I had no humility, I'd have sickening confidence now :D

Tell us your clues.

Absolutely awesome...isn't it amazing how compliments, even if they aren't even words--maybe just some action--get branded in the memory? Wow!
