Another good protein by the same company would be there 100% Whey protein. You can't beat the price for how much you get. THe one drawback to the Pro Complex is how much more you have to pay per serving than the 100% Whey. Both are very good though.

Go to Walmart and get the Whey protein there. Very cheap. With milk it's 30 grams a serving--all your body can use at one sitting. Whey is whey.

Well, actually, whey is not whey. You've got whey concentrate(cheapest and most often the culprit in bloating and other stomach problems) Whey protein isolate( The best type of whey to buy, void of any fat and carbs) Whey protein hydrosolate( another high quality type of whey) and the ion-exchanged whey( Once again void of any fat and carbs. So, you do still need to be careful when purchasing whey protein, you usually pay for what you get, the cheap whey proteins are usually inexpensive and the isolates are usually the most expensive and come in only 2lb. containers usually. Your best bet would be to stick with Optimums 100% Whey, has a good mix of isolates and concentrates and has NEVER given me any digestive problems. If you can afford Whey Isolate, I would highly recommend AST's VP2, without a doubt THE best isolate on the market.

And to add on, it is an old school beleif that your body only uses a certain amount of protein in one sitting, this is simply not true.

What are your needs in regards to a protein, fitnessfemale? Do you need it post-workout, as an all day supplement, etc.? This will impact on what type of protein supplement is best for you...

dahayz, can't agree with you more. There still seems to be that old school thing abounding somewhere from the dark ages about only being able to use 20 gr. or so at a time. Also, it is not the amount of serving size, but the amount of protein utilized that counts. I also am a big fan of AST VP2 Whey Isolate. Pre and post workout, you can't beat it.

Does anyone know anything about Apex? That is what came up on my "eating plan" at the gym. I am really funny about the taste of some of the "protein bars and shakes", so any info would be greatly appreciated. I tried the Luna bars and those are good.

Regarding the old school belief about protein absorbption in the body. I read at a couple of sites that there is a limit how much protein your body can consume in one sitting. However, I read that it was around 40-60g of protein. If I can dig up the sites, I'll post them.

Thought this was worth a bump...I've been looking for this post for about a half-hour after seeing it last week... (although it would be better suited to be in the Supplement section...)

And adding to that, can somebody describe the benefits of using AST VP2 over, say, EAS Whey from WalMart? What is the net acheivement? Who shouldn't bother taking the step up vs. who should?

Oh well, went to GNC looking for AST...they didn't stock it. I picked the guy's brain there for a while and although I was about to grab ON 100% Whey he let me know that he usually used MegaWhey although it was more for taste than any performance gain over ON.

I trusted him and grabbed some (this is a GNC product, so motives can be an issue, but I trusted this guy, because he specifically advised against some GNC stuff and, in fact, advised that I buy some stuff outside of his store. Additionally, he was buff and knew the definition of "casein," :))).

For the record, Mega Whey tastes fantastic...best stuff I've tasted yet. Chocolate.
