If you are stuck somewhere all day and the only thing there to eat is a snack chip like doritos, would you eat a few or just go without?
This happened to me today. I was at work from 10:30am to 5:20pm with no break and the meeting I had part of that time had chips and snack foods.
I went without anything at all.
But it made me wonder if I would have been better off to have a few of the chips just to get some fuel into my body.

I think you are better off eating something than nothing.. but why didn't you have a bar in your purse or desk drawer?
Situations like that are hard because it seems like once you let yourself eat the chips, the next thing you know its the cookies...and then the rest of the day feels kind of crappy. Or maybe that is just me, I have food issues...

That's why I ate nothing. I just kept drinking water the whole time. I went through so much water, they probably thought I was insane. LOL! I have food issues too. :) I figured if I ate a few chips, I would eat a few more and so on. So, I ate none.
I don't have any bars at all. I always eat breakfast, then take a protein shake I make at home with powder. Then I come home for lunch and take cottage cheese and kidney beans back with me, then I'm home for dinner. This particular day, I found out at the last minute that I wasn't going to be leaving for lunch.
Guess I'll have to keep a container of my powder in my desk just in case it happens again.

You've got to eat something. The last thing you want is to go catabolic, or, even worse, hypoglycemic. Like you said, just try and never let yourself get into that situation. Just like a boyscout - be prepared! LOL...

I would just go with-out; I have done this many times-
"SO-WHAT"-its only a day.
Some people cant handle this. They think they will die.
I think most people just worry about eating way to much.
Actually-I think people should even try to go w/out once in a while, its good for the spirit/soal.

It might be obsessive, but I go nowhere without a protein bar and bottle of water. I travel alot and often get stuck in places - in planes, in the car, at a meeting - where I can't get anything to eat. I can watch my mood drop when I need to eat, so I make sure I eat, even if I have to excuse myself from a meeting for five minutes to do so.
One of the points of eating frequently is maintain a relatively even blood-sugar level. It helps with fitness, it is also good for general health.
I can't count the times when I've watched other people become crabby or lethargic for lack of food - and I pity airline attendents, coworkers, etc - so I figure its up to me to keep myself fueled.
More than once, I've handed out my "spare" food to others on a plane when stuck.

its ok to eat a few chips but keep it in moderation. eat just enough to get a boost cause its better to eat something than nothing at all. if you dont eat anything you can actually gain weight because your metabolism slows down trying to hold on to the last little bit of nutrition you had that day.

I'd always rather eat something than starve. Then I've got the metabolism of a space shuttle, so I'd be going crazy.
