Okay, I have a confession to make. Everyday this week, after eating nice and nutritious all day long, I've been eating huge muffins before bedtime! I cannot emphasize the word huge enough! I went to the gym today and felt weak and didn't stay very long. I think I am going to take a break for a week or so. Has this ever happened to anyone else? I know many people take breaks from working out, but does your diet seem to go downhill around the same time. Also, any words of encouragement would be helpful. I also think this half-marathon training is making me batty. |

I drink coffee at work almost every day.. get about 6 hours of sleep which is never enough (at least for me) to recover.. and most of the time I don't eat enough often enough during the work day.. I think I lost about 3-4 pounds =( .. so hey.. your not the only one doing bad.. I took last week off too.. sure helps to have an extra hour or so a day to maybe catch up on some zzzz.. |

Tsk..tsk..tsk... shame on you Lumina! (kidding). I wouldn't worry about it too much. There are times where I've given in to temptation aswell (it's called Cinnabon). Some weeks I'll eat really well and get all of my workouts in and then there'll be weeks that are totally shot. It sounds to me like you just need to take a bit of a break and then start fresh again. |

I think your body is telling you to hey enough take a break. So take a week off and relax......have fun! I do it regularly and when I get back I make greater gains.-------------- "When in danger, or in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout" LIFT HARD AND OFTEN!!!!!! |

I agree, I think this comes under listening to your body. I get cravings as well, and I allow myself to cheat maybe one a week. Lately I haven't had the urge so it's been a while... But I also consider drinking anything other than water cheating, eating anything outside of my regular diet, etc. I will always have to have my chili cheese dogs occasionally...-------------- Practice does NOT make perfect. Definately take a break. I have found breaks to be amazing as far as recovery, and rejuevanation go. Save your overtraining for Vegas!-------------- Ischjli "Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go." -- T. S. Elliot |

Well guys, thanks again for the encouraging words, today is the first day I've actually started keeping track of what I'm eating again, so far, so good, my 10K is not this Sunday, but next Sunday, and the next Sunday I have to run 9 miles, which is actually the longest distance I've ever run, and a distance at which I have previously injured myself, so I am hoping hoping hoping that will not happen again. Anywho I think I haven't been eating enough (with all the running) and that is probably why I snapped this past week, so I have increased my goal number of calories. |

I took a week off to go out of town on business a few weeks ago. I ate what ever I wanted for that week and lost five lbs. Go figure, all that fat must of shocked my metabolism. I came back and was chomping at the bit to get started again. I week off will do you good. Enjoy it, you deserve it!-------------- Anything can be done |

Eating good fat will actually make you loose fat. The problem is that we are too scared to eat fat so we take everything who's low fat, light, non fat etc etc and eat lots of empty carbs (sugar!!) instead. Eating fat also make us less hungry so we tend to eat less in total daily calories. Try reading my long article in the nutrition forum! -------------- - Nina :o) Vous êtes tous magnifiques! |

I had peaked at around 200 pounds 2 weeks ago and have remained pretty lean. So, I decided to throw in a heavier lunch meal, one containing a higher percentage of fat. I have gained another 5 pounds since doing this, and a little fat. I am thrilled though, I feel like a mad scientist and I am Frankenstein! I keep trying different things and my body keeps responding. Too cool.-------------- Ischjli "Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go." -- T. S. Elliot |

Great job guys, ain't it a blast once you see results like that. It is what keeps the motivation up so high and makes you want to strive for more. I have met my original goals and am in the smallest pants I've ever been in and still have more goals to meet. It is such an awesome feeling.-------------- Lisa |

Thanks you two! After finishing it, I wasn't really too bad off and I was floating on a cloud for most of the day, then I took a nap and woke up with my ankles hurting! But, yeah I could do another one, but who knows when that might be. I kinda want to do a marathon next year, but I also would like to do a competition next year and those don't seem like complimentary goals, but who knows. |
