As you can see by the subject this is about those that thnk or want to think that they can loose weight or get that 6-pac in 3 easy 20 min workouts a week. This was brought out by a couple of things, one is a post called "are there cheat codes for weight loss?" HUH? Ther other was a info mercial called the easiet weight loss system in america!!!! Then in realyl small print "these result are not typical you may experience small weight loss or none." What? Yet you know tons of people are buying and asking and posting and hoping for that way or method or drug or what ever to loose weight quick. I know the desperation and heartfelt despair that most if not all obese people have. But I realize if all tht crap worked like they say we would not be obese. I know from personal battles that it takes time lots of hard work and then if your are really strict you get the results you want. For some the results happen faster. This is by no means a message to quit. What I want to do here is to let others know that if you except to do this right get rid of the mindset that in 6 weeks I will look like a fitness model/cover girl etc. Those people are airbrushed starved and workout for hours to acheive that look. You CAN do this, but expect months maybe even years of time to get it. Of course if you are very dedicated and strict you will get faster results. Please please do not fall prey to the media hype all it will do is weaken your resolve to get this done. After all those of us that have been doing this for a few years know this is not a 3 month deal but rather a lifetime endeavour. Good luck, and lift hard!!!!!

I love infomercials about weight loss products. I recall one in particular that advocated a special breathing technique ("...that you can do while eating or watching TV!...) to lose weight. It was called "Breath Your Way to a Slimmer You!"

I enjoy these almost as much as watching tel-evangelists asking me for money so that (1) I can reserve my spot in heaven, and (2) they can reserve their spot for their Mercedes.

Caveat Emptor!

I know I see that one all the time and the one "hawking" the problem just happened to "stumble" onto this solution by chnce, and she obviously has ahd surgery at some point o look liks she does...man i feel it is criminall and unethical for those shows to claim what they doo.

Think about it, use common sense. If it was that easy, why is America so fat? If it were that easy, we would all look like bodybuilders....hhhmmmmm....the media and reality. Good post. Make no mistake about it, it is hard work. And the older you get, the harder it gets to fight that ongoing decline in metabolic rate and inactivity rate. Then add in some late night snacking, and presto, 10-20 lbs! Wow, where did that come from? Keep it real, don't rely on gimmicks, supplements that promise the "fat just melts off", etc. Be real, forget the magic, the hocus pocus, only work and discipline is what works in the end, and you and me and all of us can get there. Good post Mutt.

As far as genetics go, the skies the limit. You are limited only by your mental perception of it.

It's funny, I go to rummage sales every saturday antique shopping, but what i find most of is excercise gimmicks...wonder why that is? Ab belts, rollers, videos, you name it. Usually stuff that I saw on tv the night before. It's such a waste of money...the thing is, those infomercials become pretty convincing to people at 1 a.m. in the morning when they're sitting on the couch eating potato chips!

LOL quite funny....I think it's DISGUSTING <smile> that they actually sell these things beside decent exercise equipment in some stores....
Harumpf....
The "breathing technique" ...lol....
A guy I used to work with and his father were trying that... I applauded them for their realization that they required change but...lol....Oh I'm not even going to finish that statement...Don't think I even have to...

So, PREACH ON MUTT!

I have to comment on this, even though I'm Guilty of buying two of them. I agree with everyone 100% that its terrible the amount of CRAP they sell. i got ot go with Tara on this, I have lost count on how many rummage sales have the ab rollers, tapes etc. My favorite is I went to one rummage sale it was late and they we slowly closing up, off to one side was a total gym. Far as I could tell it had never used, only it had a tear in the pad. Since there wasn't a sticker on it I asked price and such. Gentlemen said that they had been moving it around for the sale is how the pad got ripped, he never used it he didn't even remember BUYING IT!!! So bought it for $10. this was back a few years ago when they still were expensive.

This kind of thing burns my craw big time. I really feel that it is time for this kind of thing to be outlawed. The claims are so obviously false and prey upon desparate people. There is so much into play about the way you look. First is genetics you can't change a basic body shape, it just gets bigger or smaller or firmer. Then there is medical conditions, age and of course the biggie LIFESTYLE. Don't get me stated on the politics of brainwashing people through they way they should look. This is especially vicious to women. Why does America buy into Hollywood? These people are not for real. They don't even look like that. You can bet your booty almost everyone of them had some kind of work for sure. People simply do not age like that. It is very rare. We don't see them naked in person. All pictures are digitally altered . They can do anything with the computer. So us bozos are trying desparately to look like things that do not exist. Really how many truly skinny women have breasts. Oh come on. I can't stand the hype , the skinny , skinny women with the long long waist with no curve with the D breasts. Oh yeah really!!!! The plastic models look disgusting. My barbie dolls look better. And they are more for real. They literally make billions on gadgets, lotions, potions, and diet aids that do not work. REally people if this stuff worked, it would make medical history and be all in the news. The drug companies would buy the rights with the quickness and it would not come cheap. Ah the fountain of youth. I personally feel that is one of the keys to life which is still in God's hands not ours like it or not. Yes we can change our bodies dramatically with diet, exercise and a good lifestyle but it takes years to reverse the damage done and some stuff cannot be reversed. People do YOUR personal best. Be proud of your accomplishements. Women love your parts. Most real men want a real women with parts. I am not a jealous person. I am 49 and am considered to look great for my age. Accident Hardly, Besides genetics, I worked hard the last 5 years losing 25 lbs and exercising regularly. I keep up with the latest info. I really appreciate this site.
