So i have been Weight training for about 4 months now .. not miss more than 2 days in a row. My Gains where pretty good at First But towards the end this 4 month period of time i kinda plateau. So i started forcing myself to attempt lifts that i knew i wasnt ready for. I ended up injuring myself. ( right where the shoulder meets the pectoral above the armpit, not sure what that is exacually) Anyhow i took 2 weeks off to make sure i didnt risk hurting it worse. Long and behold i came back and starting from day 1 after the 2 week rest period all my Lifts went up. i was doing the Weight i used to max rep, with ease and contiuned to climb steady since than. its been about 3 weeks now.

Do not underestimate the power of rest.

Most new folks think they grow in the gym, and gain in the gym. They get addicted to that 'pump' and mistake it for growing.

This is in fact not true, you grow when resting and eating a good diet to accompany it.

Use your rest smartly and you will see gains faster than if you don't.

ok I have a question about rest... my program states I should workout monday, rest tuesday, workout wednesday and thursday, rest friday and workout saturday. Do you think it would make a big difference if I worked out monday through thursday and take my break on the weekend?

You could end up dragging by the time Thursday comes. Personally I don't like to workout more than 2 days in a row, but that is me and my body.

Do what works for you. If that's the time that works for you give it a shot. If you feel tired and start getting sick of working out you know you need to change.

Well im pretty sure I can do it, only because it helps me blow off steam after work. I'll try it monday to thursday as long as it isn't going to hinder my progress by taking 3 days off.
