Post anything here, you'd like to keep up with...maxes,bf,inches.

The way you score yourself on the lifts, are as follows.........your max/your bodyweight = thats your ratio to be judged.

make sure you use same means by measuring all the time. If you max free weight don't go to smith , if you use calipers starting, don't use electrical indepandance.

heres mine....as example...bw 258 bf 22( indepandance)
bench 320/258= 1.2
squat 475 " = 1.8
dl 475 " = 1.8

Now, everyone place you left hand on a 45lb plate.......right one up....." I swear hold up the honor and dignity of the steel, if not may a 45lb foot fall on my toe, the bar never leave my chest !!
:angry::big_smile: J/K by the way

haha....thanks charlie...I been eating like a horse lately...am getting awfully close to 220....

I am mixing and matching....

I need to boost my numbers...I gained almost 10 lb of weight yet hardly improved in lifts...I guess this is a perfect opportunity...heh

I have no clue where to get any of the gear....I know shirts need to be very precise in the groove and so forth.....I like lifting raw anywayz...just need to strengthen my grip....

What do you guys think about a thread with everyone's workouts? like we each make our own thread and post what we did....

I just recently started out and don't deserve to take part with you true lifters.
But it will be cool to watch this. You guys rock.

2005/05/02, 03:13 PM
No no no randomgirl, by all means enter. As a newby its easier for you to win. For one of the veterans to put 10 pounds onto a max lift is very difficult. The contest is % of weight lift increased divided by body weight. If you put 15 lbs on to each of your lifts and lose 5 lbs, I guarentee you'll smoke em'...and seeing BigA in tears will be worth the effort.

wouldnt that be like cheating tho? ...not that I mind having an advantage in something...

I'm keeping score personaly for self improvement:

weight 110lbs bf% 20.7

bench 30lbs/110 = .27
squat 40lbs/110 = .36
deadlift 50lbs/110= .45

I could leave people in tears alright, from laughing their butts off at me!
2005/05/02, 03:27 PM
Nope, it's an open contest and they haven't announced the prizes. The prize may be a nekid picture of my pal MikeM!!!

By all means enter. He autographed mine when I won the last challange.

That's cool.
To be honest I can't see myself losing weight, 110lbs is kinda light as it is for my high b/f% and height (64in.). So I'll have to depend on improving my lift. Maybe that will make it more fair.
ok then, I'm in.

All right, now that I see another female on board, I might give this a go--so look out randomgirl! Now my only problem is how to figure out max. Currently I typically do 15 reps of each lift, so I'm not likely maxing out...here would be an example of what my stats are:

155lbs/23.5%BF (elect. impedence measurement at gym-would do same at end)

bench--bar only-- so 45lbs (don't know what this equipment is called but the lift is isolated for each arm--I don't yet have the stability to do a full bench without a spotter, I'm too wonky!)

squats--smith--30lb each side (could do more I'm sure)

deadlifts--SL--10lbs each side (could do more, but have to watch hamstring--am slowly increasing though)

So I guess this would come out to the following:

BW 155
BF 23.5%
bench 45/155 0.29
squat 30/155 0.55
DL 65/155 0.42

Does this make sense?...the numbers I mean...I no it doesn't make sense me participating:)

why not just make one giant thread for everyone to post their workout on.
2005/05/02, 06:31 PM
http://www.jackalsgym.com/programs/max_epley.html

^^^^for calculating your 1 rep max using multiple reps...it's pretty accurate...might be off + or - 5-10lb

fly remember...that 30 per side on smith machine...comes out to 105(I believe the barbell b/c it is suspended is 10 lb less than free weight)...I hope I understood you correctly...

1 giant thread is too confusing....

let's each make

8 WEEK CHALLENGE WORKOUT DIARY/JOURNAL

So it's more organized and easier to keep track off....I mean there will just be however many threads near the top....just need to find your own thread and post...simple...:)

Thanks Menace, my stats should now read:

BW 155 BF 23.5%
bench 45/155 0.29
squat 105/155 0.68
DL 65/155 0.42

Hey I should be able to squat my body weight by the end of this yoohoo! I'm not going to try and convert these to 1rep max, and I'll keep the same system for the end.

Weight 152 bf~10%
Bench 175/12 = 1.15
Deadlift 300/152 = 1.97
Squat 225 /152 = 1.48

Oh Oh...I'm going to have to recheck the bench press stat of mine. It turns out I'm actually using a iso lateral hammer strength chest press so I don't think I'm even benching 45. I know with dbs I use 15lb weight for a chest press....anyway will have to check back with this stat.:surprised:

Weight 202 bf 18.8 % (eeps I was slacking a little) :(
Bench 140/200 .7
Squat 180/200 .9
Deadlift 180/200 .7
These probably are not the most accurate since I have not maxed out in a while... I will be maxing out this week so I can get more accurate... (Squat on Thursday, Bench on Friday, Deadlift on Saturday)

All right...one more time...The hammer strength bench says it has a starting resistance of 18lbs. I'm assuming this means a total of 36lbs, since I find this more difficult to do than free weights of 15lbs each-30lb totals. I promise these are my final stats--notice I also changed my weight a bit since I'm already down a couple of lbs--yoohoo!

BW 152 BF 23.5%
bench 36/152 0.23
squat 105/152 0.69
DL 65/152 0.43

NO, NO, NO!

Flyonthewall, you don't want to lose ANY weight at all before the challenge starts!

You want to keep your weight up so that the final figures look much better compared with the starting figures!

so when I make my log on monday I'll put them up correctly.

Right now it's been a week off on both exercise and diet, my best friend flew in and we've partied all week long. Gotta love these California beaches in the summer....

Okay, just for interest, I am going to post my cardio stats to see what happens over the 8 weeks.

I have done a fitness test on the exercise bike which came up with the following:

VO2max = 46ml/kg/min or 13.2 METs
Lactate threshold = 164

And my resting pulse is 68 (although I have a cold just now, so I'm not sure what it should be)

Actually, if anyone else wants to do cardio, if you look in the "fitness resources" at the top, under "fitness calculators" you can do a test on the treadmill to calculate your own VO2max (they all it maximal oxygen uptake, but it's the same thing)
