Wow, I think I have the highest weight here. I am 23, 5'8.5, 285lbs, and looking to lose 105 within the year. If I can manage the 10 pounds a month this year, I am going to do it. I have pretty muscular legs and arms, carry my weight in the middle mostly. My mothers side of the family are all over weight and my fathers side are all slim. I want to be in the middle and combat some of those health problems that are going to be coming on. I walk and hike a lot already, I don't jog because my doctor told me it would put a lot of stress on my joints. I haven't been doing anything else-not even dieting. So let's she how I do...and I'll be watching to see how all of you do!

Thanks! I've got a way to go yet but I'll get there. My next goal is 225!!! I find setting mini goals make's it easier.


You can reach your goal too! Just keep motivated. There's lots of great info on this site.

Hi everybody! I'm a new member and I'm sooo excited that I've found this great site.

My height = 5'7"

Starting weight 05/2005 = 242lbs = 38 BMI
Current weight 02/2006 = 200lbs = 31 BMI
Goal weight 08/2006 = 160lbs = 20 BMI

Hi ppl, i joined last year after packing in smoking started at 238 lbs went down to 225 lbs but stopped training in gym last nov,now back at 234lbs but 11 months later still not smoking.Back to the gym this week.6'2 and ready to give it another go with less weights and more reps and more cardio.Target is to get under 200 lbs ,good luck everyone.

ok i'm just gonna throw this out there, heh.

ok i'm 5'11"
and i weigh about 320 lbs
I'm about to get into the gym here in town, and i was also looking into a personal trainer, i would like to drop a few pants sizes because i'm about only 3 or 4 away from a size 38 waist. i also want to beef back up like i was back in highschool any comments would deffinately help me out alot

1 Goal: Strengthen my quads,hamies,glucs.) I tore my knee up (ACL) in March '05. I have to get my legs to equal strength! Lose weight get down to 270 lbs. (my weight 5 years ago!)

Hi, I'm new too. My current weight is around 255 and I would like to lose about 75lbs. I don't feel the need to be a super model, just to live a healthy life and set a good example for my kids.

I started working out on 1-11-06 at a crazy 315 and as of 3-24-06 i was 280:) Its all so odd. I have such a long way to go. My friend thats a trainer is 5'8 and 160 i'm 5'3 and 280 i'd be happy just to be his weight. Let alone get down to the max healthy weight for my size of 141.Wish me luck:big_smile:

I'm so new here I'm scared! I want to do something to loose weight, and for some reason after the first week I don't ever go back...I'm going to need some real help!

I'm 315 lbs, 5'8'' tall.
Long Term Goal: 145 (I honestly don't forsee that happening!)
Short Term Goal: 300 lbs by April 30th.

If I could lower my BMI and body fat %, I'd be happy.

Utah Angel-Long Term Goal: 145 (I honestly don't forsee that happening!) that is why you are not doing it. Arnold Schwarzeengger said something that I totaly believe. He was talking about lifting a certain weight in training(bear with me it will tie into you). He said" that you must believe that you can lift the weight. I can tell just by looking at someones eyes right away that they will/will not lift the weight. Most people self-talk themselves out of reaching that goal before they even try to lift it"

Now he was talking maily about weights, however if you tell us here that you want a certain goal in one sentence, then in the next one say you can not do it, well what do you think the chances are of you failing? 100%!
Stop talking like you have already failed! Take each day one day at a time. DO NOT WEIGH YOURSELF EACH DAY! Lift weights more than cardio, and you will do fine!

hello everyone, i've been around this site before mainly for the powerlifting. i've gotten away from lifting in the past year or so though. i have always been overweight, and have had some problems losing in the past(alot of fluctuation back and forth). but now i have weighed in at an all time high of 512lbs.

starting now i hope to clean up my diet into mainly low carb meals and alot of salds. that along with trying to kill sodas altogether and drinking mainly water and juices will help. i hope to be able to first just get back under the 500lb mark. then hopefully start setting goals of 25-30lbs at a time. i've considered gastric bypass surgery, but my insurance company for whatever reason doesn't cover it anymore. i would think anyone over 500lbs, bad blood pressure, etc... would qualify.

anyway, im hoping that with my background in doing tough man competitions(boxing) and weightlifting i will be able to accomplish my goals.

so as of 4/20/06 i weight 512lbs
