Hi. I am 17, I been lifing for like a year. Well about 3 months ago I started getting really into it. Like eating right and stuff. Everytime I think of like where i'll be in a year, I say will i still be lifting? Does anyone ever have this problem? And please don't say don't think about it, because I have OCD and it's kind of hard not too. Like I know it's good for you and stuff. But I need more motivation. Any help? Is this my age or what? Anyone old here who has been lifting since there teens? And what did you think about like years in advance?

Esco, all I can tell you is that no one can do it for you, you have to do it for yourself. It is difficult at your age to stay real focused on things when so much is going on in your life physically, emotionally and mentally. As we get older (like me), it 'usually' subsides. It takes a lot to stay with this program, but you have to want it for yourself. To be honest, it is a responsibility and at your age resposibility is hard. But, with determiniation, you can do it...you are almost 18. Don't think about it, just do it! Good luck!

Wheres the inspiration in that? I don't have time to eat 6 meals a day. I can find time to workout. Ever since I started this f*cked up body for life program, which sucks I have been questioning If I will continue to work out. I have tried everything to gain muscle. I gained like 4-5 pounds in like 3 months I get. I just wanna be "built" as I am now. But like if I nothing to look forward to body wise, and really I don't care about being healthy, i never questioned lifting weights. Then that stupid book, has made it like impossible to make lifting fun.

Plus I already look like that :) and i'm only 17. I sort of follow the same routines, but my intensity is even higher. And all I really care about is my arms and arms. I see no point in training my legs, and every time i think about where i'll be in 5 years or even 3 weeks, i wonder if i will still be lifting weights. Also, why can't i lift every other day? I would like to do this for the rest of my life: arms, chest, ab's. Thats it. I don't care about my back, i'm not a body builder, I just like to do it. Is that reason enough? Plus those shakes and stuff are like $100 a month.

Esco, you need to relax my friend. You are 17 and have a lot of great years ahead of you. Training your legs and back along with the rest of your body will give you an overall balanced look and size. I purchased a protein supplement from Prosourceonline.com for $23 and change with shipping. Only 11 servings in 3.8 lbs. but I'm going to stretch it out and continue to eat high protein foods. If you can come up with that much money per month you should be ok.

Don't try to look so far ahead of yourself. Work on it one day at a time and you'll feel much better. I'm 41 years old, have been working out for only 3 months and have gained considerably. Use correct form, eat right, get plenty of rest and focus one day at at time.

Lift cool!!

Yeah, what I have kind of figured out, is ya know it's like my age, where im worried about what i look like and stuff, and i just said ya know, being healthy isn't a bad thing, and to do just that, one day at a time, maybe i won't be training as hard as I do now. and i think that the thinking about only working out will pass because it already has. and about the food, maybe i won't be able to afford all the goodies, but i'll do my best. i don't think anyone knows where they will be in like a week, unless your in prision for ever or something :). thanks so much though.

ok here is the deal ESCO...

- If you dont Eat You simply wont get big.. thats a fact..
- If you dont work all your body parts(legs, back, forarms) you will look worst than what you do now(average 17year old)thats a fact...
- If you dont have goals in your head and really cant find a reason why you would spend so much money just on your body, simply stop all of it and go smoke up and do drugs and see which one will make you feel better in the log term cause what i see from you will not make you a successfull bodybuilder, and thats a fact

Yes takin care of your body and planing to get big like Arnold isn't easy... if it was that easy every one would be big and good lookin and sexy, the point is that its really hard, STick to a programe that works for you, not every thing might work for you.. some thing that works for me probibly will not work for you.. you should know your body, you will learn this by tryin different things... give it 3 months with the same programe.. didnt see results? chang the programe...

but let me tell you some thing and make it clear that if you are a skinny guy specially if you are a hard gainer like me, YOU WILL NEVER GET BIG without spending LOTS & LOTS of money on your food.. so dont make your self tired by workin out hard ever day 7 days a week, cause you will never get any bigger if you dont EAT right and DONT get enough rest and Dont be consistant...

READ, Read, and read to know what might work for you the best and follow it...

GOOD luck..

cheers

Yo Esco!

You are 17. You have your whole life ahead of you. Perhaps the best plan for you is to first find an activity or hobby that you are genuinely passionate about. It doesn't sound like fitness is that passion. At least not at this point in your life...

Dealing with the "ups and downs" of life can be tough on anyone. Adding OCD to the mix does not make things any easier. Finding an enjoyable pastime may help to get you out of this funk your in, and allow you to better appreciate the day-at-a-time living that you seem to want to avoid. It sounds to me that no amount of convincing on our parts will let you see the fitness angle from the viewpoint of most of the members here at FT. And that's cool.

So, maybe after you find your "spark" - that thing in your life that makes you want to wake up in the morning and brings a smile to your face - you'll be better able to relish every day, and look forward to the day when you're 42, and enjoy looking back at the previous 25 years (and the next 25).

People often say "don't dwell on the past". It's probably equally important not to "dwell" on the future. Enjoy your life day at a time. Make each day your masterpiece. Live for the moment. Carpe Diem. Man, I could spew this rhetoric for hours, but the key is just have fun and enjoy the ride. Having a plan is very valuable in life, but not to the point that it causes you distress.

There are folks who say their glass is half full. Sometimes they say their glass is half empty. It's okay to have a little pessimism in your life every once in a while. Just don't go through life thinking that the glass is half cracked!

Yo Bhardy!

You are absoultely correct - the message is timeless... Kind of like da Saxman's youthful looks! And, no, it is not your imagination at all. In fact, might I say that you are a very perceptive individual. My own humility kept me from mentioning this myself.

Oh Mutt, you really have to take this moderator thing more seriously. You can't just throw a bone or two to your loyal fans and then hang them out to dry for years at a time. Thank heavens Asimmer was there to pick up the pieces and bump this to the top of the list. This kid and others are looking for some serious guidance! Unless you simply just forgot to follow up... in which case, you might want to try some ginko to restore youthful memory function. Unfortunately, the youthful appearance is too far gone to recommend any "quick fixes" Sorry. But you can still cling to that whole "biceps" thing!:laugh::laugh:

You are still my idol! You haven't started watching Matlock, yet, have you?
