I've been trying to cut the fat out of my diet and figured I should stop eating cereal every morning. I always eat something sugary with 2% milk. I've been thinking about switching to some sort of fruit shake or something. What does everyone else eat? Can you recomend anything? |

I wouldn't completely throw cereal in the morning out the window. Try and be selective on the type of cereal. If your looking to eat smart, always make sure to look at the Nutritional Facts. My morning food is 4 pancakes, 6 egg whites, 1 grapefruit, and 2 cups of milk. Of course, my diet is completely different than yours because of my goal. |

Since I started 1 week ago, mine has been 1/2 cup multi grain hot cereal, a piece of multi grain toast, a few nuts, and either strawberries, an apple, a pear, or a grapefruit. Sometimes I substitute the nuts with 3 egg whites.-------------- ~Jennifer http://www.gwindalyn.com |

Raisin Bran with a half of bagel with peanut butter. That's my breakfast. Cereal is great for refueling the furnace and it's low fat and low sugar. Raisin Bran's got that fiber thing going too. |

I always have one cup of Fiber One with one cup of low-fat milk. That totals approx. 220 calories, plus you get basically your day's worth of fiber right there at one meal. Sometimes I'll add a can of low-fat yogurt for something kind of sweet. I could kick myself for all those years I lived on Pop Tarts!! |

Those typical cereals just make me even more hungry........For breakfast I need my protein shake, apple and good old fashioned oats!!! About the egg whites..... I think you can get them all by themself but it'll get more cheap to seperate the eggs yourself. -------------- - Nina :o) Les Victoires éternelles sont celles du coeur. |

oats are the way to go for me too! basically, it's only thing that keeps me from eating *everything* in the morning. plus you can mix in other foods. i really enjoy mixing in fruits, nuts, honey, peanut butter or even protein powder. just don't get the pre-packaged ones - too much sugar! i just bring the instant ones to work in a little bowl, add hot water and wait a minute - then they're all ready to go :) |

I agree, choosing the wrong kind of breakfast food can leave you feeling hungry too soon. That's why I like the fiberous cereals. I feel satisfied for a good 3 hours. Just in time to wolf down a mid-morning snack. |

I just started so I am not an expert in body building. but I know food so I thought you might want to hear what I eat.some type of fruit or natural fruit juice. if I want to get more fiber I eat mango or melon or apricot... toasted multigrain bread, some lowfat cheese... or if I don't have time raisin bran, or oatmeal (the ones that are sold in supermarkets that specialize are healthier and most have no added sugar) with dried fruits and nuts. you can also find eggwhites in this specialized natural food stores. they also have a WIDE selection of healthy oatmeal and cereal section. I also sometimes add soy milk instead of regular milk. it gives cereal a much different taste if you get bored of eating the same thing. after you start reading the labels you will be amazed what some companies put into your food. so these natural food supermarkets are much better to find healthy food and natural fruits and vegetables. (you will pay more but they taste better :) good luck... gokce |

Personally, I'm thinking about taking a container of cottage cheese, mixing it with a container of natty PB and storing it in something to eat as a side with my oatmeal or whatever in the morning. Anyone tried this? How does well does natty PB mix?-------------- "Don't follow leaders and watch your parking meters!" -- Bob Dylan |

I thought the PB mixed with oats was nasty! LOL! Not too sure what the PB and CC would be like. I'm thinking sort of like putrid milk. LOL!-------------- ~Jennifer http://www.gwindalyn.com |

I've also been thinking about adding tuna to that PB cottage cheese mix, but I'm thinking that could be disastrous. Somehow it seems like it might work, though . . .-------------- "Don't follow leaders and watch your parking meters!" -- Bob Dylan |

I have no idea what compelled me to come up with that, mutt. It probably would have been a bad idea, and it's probably better that I didn't try it. For some reason it sounded appetizing at the time.-------------- "Don't follow leaders and watch your parking meters!" -- Bob Dylan |

Actually, I found a website a few weeks ago that listed about a dozen shakes (yes, shakes) to make using tuna! I make some weird concoctions, but I think I may draw the line at this!!!-------------- Michael "Trample the weak; hurdle the dead!" |

Actually, there's a good way to mix a little tuna with Cottage Cheese. What I do is add some tuna to the Cottage cheese, add a little bit of black pepper, and then dice small chunks of tomatoes and add it in. it's actually not bad at all.
A friend told me a trick. Add a little bit of rosemary to some olive oil, and it turns out to be a good dip for some bread. |

Don't be too hard on yourself about the cereal. Truth of the matter is eat what you want for breakfast. Im not suggesting jelly doughnuts but your body absorbs the first meal of the day differently then the rest. Maybe some hard boiled eggs, whites and yokes, or a good protein shake, and some pancakes, need carbs to keep you going through the day.

i eat waffles, 4 boiled eggwhites, orange juice, and a low-fat yogurt for breakfast. the only bad part of that is the syrup i have to use for the waffles (can't eat em without it!). are there any syrup alternatives that are better for you than the standard run of the mill mrs. butterworth kind?
im' trying to bulk up, but without eating crap/junk, which seems really hard. i feel like i'm stuffing myself all day, but then i break it down and it's only like 2000 calories, if that. i need some higher calorie foods that are still good for you. |

I like to eat cereal in the AM, but I always go for the LOW sugar ones. From my understanding, an excess of sugar raises your blood sugar causing your body to release insulin which blocks the fat burning.
