Just had two major events confirmed this morning, and I am soooooooo stoked!

1) We will have Stongman Anthony Clark in town next week to do a motivational lecture and strength demos for a local middle school!

2) On May 30th and 31st, the First Vegas Strongman challenge will take place on the grounds of UNLV. The promoter is WSM competitor and UNLV Head Strength Coach Mark Phillipi; Emcee will be Bill Kazmier; appearances by Karl Gillingham, Phil Pfister, Magnus Samulsson, etc.

I will post photos from both.
There is going to be so much Testosterone in the Las Vegas air the rest of this month, you'll be able to smell it!

Michael,
Are you going to see Anthony Clark at the middle school, or do you just know that he'll be in town? I'm not sure if you'd know this or not, but does he travel all around the country doing motivational stuff? If so, I'm a middle school teacher in FL and I'm sure the kids would love to have him as a speaker.

That strongman event will be awesome! I'd love to see that! The only way I could be there is if I found a pilot that could fly me to Vegas and back free of charge.

There are many sanctioning bodies, so a comprehesive list may be difficult. However, I'll see if I can get some URLs that list some of the comps around the country...

Yea, J, I'm one of the organizers for it. I had him come up to a youth camp that I volunteer for last June (those are where my pics are from), which he will return to this year! He is a great person - very down to earth, and just an all around nice guy.

As far as the strongman comp: I spoke to one of the promoters yesterday, and it looks like we'll end up being one of the sponsors - can you say HELL YEAH!!!!??

Just as an update:

Spent 10 hours with Anthony Clark on Friday, as he did 3 assemblies for a middle school out here, and then spent an hour one-on-one with a few truancy problem kids. After each of the 3 times that he spoke, we went outside, and he proceeded to pick up the rear end (COMPLETELY off the ground!) of a Ford Escort and walk with it for several feet!!!!

The problem was, when he let go the car, guess who got to play human bumper? ....UGH! And I thought pushing cars when I do my dino training was tough. Try being a car catcher!

After it was all over, we went and hit one of the famous Vegas buffets for dinner before he left...LOL! It was great.

Guess I'm missing her lately...

It's funny you brought that up. I just finish reading Mutt's post ("why oh why dont they understand") about other people not understanding why we do what we do. For my entire life, I have always eaten alot, and that commercial came out when I was a little kid. Ever since then, people have always said that about me. If a group of us would go out to eat and if any one would have food left over, they would say "Give it to Mikey - he eats everything." UGH! So damn obnoxious! And it only got worse when I started powerlifting, and my caloric needs doubled. It was really bad at that youth camp that I volunteer for every year. With a 6K plus jump in elevation, my metabolism goes through the roof every time, and everyone would make fun of me.... until last year, when we had Anthony Clark (above) come up to talk to the kids. What that man puts away, even off of competition, still makes what I do look like I'm on a hunger strike! And now, most of them semi-understand, and don't bother me too much any more. *snicker*
