I always get a headache halfway through my workout. It's really mild, but it'd beginning to worry me. Does anyone else have this happen or know anything about it?

Are you drinking water before and during your workout.. and did you remember to eat something (something with some carbs in it to help you lift) before you started... Also make sure your breathing right on each lift and warmup properly.. other than that I dun0.. maybe take some asprin with you?..

It could be that you're just in a confined space and heat is not escaping...or you're not drinking enough water?

Hmm, actually all of what was said is true. I drink very little water during my workout, a habit from cardio, and it's a confined space. I'll increase ventilation and drink more water. I'll throw up if I eat before I work out, so that's out.

Yeah.. leg day.. but that is followed by very dizzy spins and the urge to throw up..

just my 2 cents.

Ah yes...squats and deadlifts! I don't get as dizzy and disoriented anymore for some reason. The urge to throw up is gone, too. I still see stars every once in a while though. I usually finish leg day with 1-2 sets of leg extensions or curls. I think this helped...

I have a feeling it goes away as you get stronger. I think it's just the strain on your body. All the oxygen rushes from your head to your muscles.

Yep you're all right Cainsands, all the oxygen and blood rush directly to the hard working muscles, and since the legs are a huuuge muscle group then it's the hardest work out you can do.

Anyway, since this is a fact that's why cool down (especially in cardio) is sooo important. Your brain (and order vital organs) need a little time to recover and if you stop too violent the exercise/movement you risk having a knock out.

Now, I feel like I must not be working hard enough. I've never felt like throwing up or anything. But, last week while I was on the shoulder press machine, I got this pain in the back of the lower part of my head, so I read this post and thought that maybe I'm not getting enough water or something. Then, today while I was doing the machine incline press, I got this weird feeling in the same part of my head and it kinda spread into my neck. Could this also be because of lack of water or maybe heat (it's in the 80s here today)? I had a total of 6 cups of water, not all at once but throughout the day, prior to working out. Thanks in advance.

I get something similar, but I can tell it's just the strain on me. I sometimes wonder if that's what it feels like when the really ripped guys flex their necks for magazines etc.

I've never experienced that... don't forget to drink while your working out.. I like to drink between exercises but you can take a bottle of water and take a drink in between sets too.. As far as neck pain tho for a shoulder press.. hrmm.. Not sure... are you looking straight ahead and have a straight back (well I usually keep mine straight).. the only time my neck hurts is if i'm trying to look from side to side (to look in the mirror and watch my form) during a lift.. feels like a cramp really.... but i'm not sure if thats like what your feeling..

It's not a straining type of pain. It kinda goes away, when I stop doing my set, but when I start up again, it comes right back. This recent sensation that occurred at the back of my neck also, wasn't painful at all, as a matter of fact, while it was happening the weight seemed much lighter...was I about to pass out? I drank some water and stopped doing the incline press and went to the flat bench press machine, and the sensation felt like it might come back, but it didn't.

Fireloard, actually my neck always feels a little strained when I do shoulder exercises. I do look straight ahead and I believe my back is straight...

So if I take 250 g of niacin, I won't be ODing on it or anything will I? If not, I will give it a try.

Lumina, there's a fair amount of niacin in milk and most multivitamin complexes. So chances are, you won't OD on them...

Well, see that was my point. If I'm getting so much niacin already, I wouldn't want to take more and end up with some toxic niacimbriosis complex (okay, so I just made that up).

No,just as a added dose for circulation if you have poor circulation but if you fill that you don't need it... only you know that. I take it before I lift, it real pumps the blood to the muscles that i'm working that day and keep the energy level at a good balance.
