What are your goals?
Is everyone just kinda training right now, or is there something specific we are all reaching for? This board is getting pretty dead, so I figured it'd be cool to talk about. Personally, I have my status, goals, and schemes planned out for the next 6 months. I did it a week or two ago, printed it out, took all my basketball posters down (because you cannot be what you just wish you could be, refer to earlier post) and now my goals and current statuses are there alone on my wall. It has helped me keep focus tremendously so far. -------------- I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is the moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle-victorious. --Vince Lombardi "Decide what you want, decide what you are willing to exchange for it. I am currently in the preparation phase. The short-term goal here is to get my joints and strength base going before I start pounding. This consists of ATG Squats or High Step Ups (Both for Knees), Tricep Rope Pushdowns with emphasis on the eccentric phase (Elbow Tendons), Calf Raises with same emphasis (Achilles), Hip Work, Wrist, Shoulders, Etc.
After this (starting next week), I will jump into a program using Undulating periodization until the end of the year, and starting in 2007, an all-power routine for my athleticism. This covers the rest of the 6 months. If Steve is still hosting it i am training for a power lift meet in May. I should be at 220lbs by then and hope for a 350 bench, 475-500 DL and a 500 Squat-------------- When I consider the short duration of my life, swallowed up in the eternity before and after, the little space which I fill and even can see, engulfed in the infinite immensity of spaces of which I am ignorant and which know me not, I am frightened and am astonished at being here rather than there; for there is no reason why here rather than there, why now rather than then. Who has put me here? By whose order and direction have this place and time been allotted to me? The eternal silence of these infinite spaces frightens me. Blaise Pascal 7707mutt@freetrainers.com |

I know I said that I would be starting the second phase next week, but my elbow pain is still absolutely grueling. I hate that my athletic and lifting career seems to be defined by these injuries and setbacks. I guess this can explain why I'm going into physical therapy, which is a whole other subject.-------------- I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is the moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle-victorious. --Vince Lombardi "Decide what you want, decide what you are willing to exchange for it. I am generally recovering from the knee injury. It's fine 95-99% of the time in day to day activities(walking, using stairs, etc)....But running is painful...still cant jump off it in any way...it's quite weak because I am limited by how much strength I can generate....so I am thinking of focusing more on unilateral exercises from now on like lunges and step ups along with sumo deads.....
I never really plan ....I just prefer to go by feel....obviously i want to keep getting stronger....so I look for my weaknesses and how I am responding then I either keep pushing myself or back off depending on previous results,etc... I want to generally get my push press to at least 275, bench to 455, squat to 405? :/ , deadlift 700 without hitching, do chin up with at least 3 plates, do dip with 250, bent press 135 with a barbell....and uh not f-up my other knee...:/... Mutt if you hit those numbers that's gonna be very impressive....hope you get there.....plus you'll be in same weight class as me so I will have new motivation to push my numbers....heh.... | |

2006 Push/Pull US National Powerlifting CHAMPION. Top 20 USAPL, age and weight class 2007 RIT Strongman Challenge 175lb CHAMPION. 2007 Empire Games Olympic Lifting Place Winner. (3rd or better) Shit, having all that down makes me realize I've actually got to do it now. 4 weeks till we see about that first one. -------------- Iron and chalk. |

Meanace those were my old maxes and I feel like they are very reachable.-------------- When I consider the short duration of my life, swallowed up in the eternity before and after, the little space which I fill and even can see, engulfed in the infinite immensity of spaces of which I am ignorant and which know me not, I am frightened and am astonished at being here rather than there; for there is no reason why here rather than there, why now rather than then. No doubt Mutt. I think you can do it.
Trouble being is that it's going to be quite difficult to get back there. Because you're going to be a lot smaller....that's the interesting thing about being heavy....even though you have a lot of bodyfat you also have a lot of muscle to help 'carry' that weight....by losing weight you also lose a lot of muscle...that's going to be difficult to build on a calorie restricted diet....part of the reason why I dont want to drop down in weight....as I think I was most athletic at 10-20 lb less....but strength drop is going to be significant... |
